I really don't care what way they paint em either Gary the only color that matters to me is the green I get when They send me their half of my paycheck. MrCNJ

All this debate about one color scheme. Here in NZ the new scheme ain't new just like the 'new' CSX. Our President Micheal Beard(Ex chief of ANZDL) thought of an absolute shocker, black and yellow!. Just like CSX it is modified from the previous paint job. The yellow ends are retained but now come around the side of the cabs and along the long hood a bit in front and the rear yellow covers the long hood section of the radiator. I would have prefered black stripes ala BN to break up the yellow on the nose. He calls it the 'Hi Viz' scheme. It's alright when the units are clean but when they start to get dirty the black turns to a rust color so I know what I think of the scheme UGLY!!!.

I still like how it looks and when we get the old geeps all repainted when they get oil out the stack it won't be nearly as noticeable. MrCNJ

While I am yet to see the new paint scheme(except in pictures) I feel that it looks better then some of the early CSX paint schemes (such as the all gray units),but not as classly as the current paint. Now,as far as modeling this new paint scheme should be easy to do...Being a C&O fan,I can not help but smile. What's that bit about what goes around, comes around??? Still smiling! Perhaps history DOES repeat itself! Now if the would only put C&O on the hood!!! Even Chessie would work sublettered C&O of course! A shock face here and a Big smiley face here!

the unit that i saw that day was a widebody... i think it was an sd60... but im not 100% i was blowing by it at 35 mph with a coal train and coming up on an apsolute signal..dont have alot of time to lookyloue at whats in the yard.... but it was not good looking at all.... i think it is just as bad a paint job as the ns... no real sharp color that jumps out at you....

i didnt dont remember the roof if it was blue or back...but as far as someone saveing the all mighty dollar... csx is spending 10 millon to repaint the intire locomotive fleet! now how is spending that kind of money to change the looks of the locomotives saving money! besides..i still think the new skeem looks like ****!

We Have gotten a few rebuilds back mostly Gp 38's and 40's and one pup The roofs are white The Blue is pretty dark, a shade or 2 darker than navy blue and the gold looks like butterscotch. Most of the engines in our yard were done under contract by NS. I like the old color scheme but the gray just doesn't hold up and the yellow wasn't much better. I think they look pretty good once you get used to them. All the engines so far are former Conrail units assigned to Conrail shared assets territory's, Oak Island and outlying points. I am anxious to see what a big Emd or GE wide body will look like all painted up this way.MrCNJ

in the may 2002 issue of railpace magazine on page 42, they mention that CSX is using "imron dark blue" and "deluxe gold" for the new paint scheme. they also have some information on the repaints on page 9. i don't know if those paints are the same they used for bright future-2.

sure, i liked the birhgt future-2 scheme. but personally i think the scheme looks rather nice. of course i would rather not see every locomotive in the east painted in one solid color, but i like it because it is very similar to B&O's and C&O's old paint scheme. plus i think they have to represent the fact that they now have half of Conrail as part of them. who knows, maybe buying a blue railroad was one factor in deciding to go all-blue.

Gary I agree about the looks Is the blue darker than the current blue and did you see the roof on the cab it looked white in the pic The new paint is just a cheap take off of the old C&O and B&O some one just saving the o'mighty dollar.

In the May 2002 Trains mag it shows a new paint scheme on p.24 My question is What color blue are they using (CSX Blue) and is the roof of the cab white? It looks so in the picture. The gold paint still looks yellow to me.
