Larry, it was great meeting you...

Finally, somebody on your own level!  Who's taller?

We didn't compare - but it's pretty much a wash.

Yes, Larry is tall--he drives a pickup that is so far off the ground he had to help me get up in it when he provided me with transportation last year.

It's just a standard pickup, in case anyone is wondering...  Not lifted or any such thing.

But I do drive it because I fit, and I don't enjoy getting in or out of even a "full size" car these days.

My pickup is stock height as well, but being four wheel drive, it sits high. But after being in the semi all week, it feels like I'm sitting on the pavement when I first drive it........

Welcome to Scooba, MS, it's where I stopped today. Heading for Sterling, IL, for Thursday........

Spotted an interesting sight on Sunday while I was out running errands: a real live Delorean actually being driven.  Wasn't too sure when I first saw its nose but a left turn in front of me at a stoplight confirmed it with its stainless steel body.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

Put in a very late night at the office last night. The reward was watching a rail grinder (20 stone switch grinder) working the RTD line along I-25 across the freeway from the office. Quite the light show with the sparks flying - I guess that rascal did not have drop screens like the bigger units.  Sparks got all the way over to the shoulder of the freeway.

Only thing I saw was a hi-rail pickup following about a quarter mile behind as it went south.

I knew a fool that bought a Delorean- a stainless steel Deloean- and had it painted bright red. What a big maroon!

Why buy a Delorean if you're going to paint it?  That should be illegal.  I never was a fan of the gutless wonders, but a stainless car is a paintless car.

Home now, looks like I'll be fighting my fifth wheel again this winter. Had a hard time getting it to lock this morning in 40 degree weather, finally gave the mechanism a good coat of WD40 and latched and unlatched it a few times, seems to do the trick. Not sure why this only happens on our International and Kenworth trucks, but not the Freightliners, and they all have the exact same fifth wheel assembly........

As an aside, does anyone have issues with getting redirected from the Trains mobile site to various deal and/or sex sites? Seems to be getting worse again..........

The last time our computer tech visited us, he installed "Ghostery" on my computer.  I don't get the ads like those you describe, and it has made things a lot more pleasant (current political situation notwithstanding).  It may affect some sites more directly (right now I can no longer access the Rochelle Webcam, but there may be a solution to that if I care to pursue it), but I'd say the overall effect is positive until someone finds a way around it.

I dropped in the hosts file mentioned in another thread.  My malware program (mostly for cookies) found over 400 less such files on my last weekly scan.

A friend in Florida was discussing preparations for Michael on a ham net this morning.  He's been down there for a few years, but never for a storm.

Discovered the lines at the gas stations, and was talking about getting a generator.  Assuming he can find one, he's going to have a heck of a time finding an electrician to put in a transfer box before the storm hits...

He's kinda used to getting what he wants/needs when he wants/needs it - not used to having to wait...

Solid white precip predicted here tonight - What fall? Trees at this elevation are still green. Copcar may already be looking at a white coating. Boss Hen is picking any 'maters of color right now. Garden is probably done.

Regardless, the moisture is welcome.

Had a momentary power interruption about 1840.  thank goodness for surge protectors.  Started raining here about 8 hours earlier than predicted.  Standby generator up and ready with 25 gallons of non  ethanol gasoline on hand that will go into  mower if not used.   .  Propane gas grill is ready as well .

My sister said she had to go wading to get to work the other day (area of Monaco and Evans).

Meanwhile, we set a new record high today at +82F or so.

We're supposed to get a "correction" later in the week.
