You are correct, sir. The Danville Secondary is a combination of remnants of both the former NYC/Big Four Little Egypt line and the former NYC/Big Four Indianapolis-St. Louis main line. The two ex-NYC lines connect at Paris, IL. It was acquired by CSX as part of the Conrail split. The Decatur Subdivision is what's left of the former B&O line between Indianapolis and Springfield, IL. Back in the late 1980's CSX abandoned the line west of Decatur, IL and east of Hillsdale, IN (connection with the ex-C&EI Chicago-Evansville mainline).
After the Conrail split, CSX installed a connection track between the ex-B&O and NYC/Big Four lines at Chrisman, IL and traffic to/from Decatur was re-routed from Brewer Yard in Danville, IL to Avon Yard in Indianapolis.
Traffic sources on the line cluster include the large ADM and Tate & Lyle plants in Decatur, a chemical complex at Ficklin, a large grain elevator in Tuscola (complete with a new loading loop), and a Cargill grain mill in Paris.
Secondary: Lower priority main line, branch.
As pointed out, different railroads had different ways of defining things. You could add "Running Track", _______ Line and Industrial Lead (some places) to those names for light used/ backwater main tracks. Totally dependent on the operating departments and employee timetables.
(and then there are the FRA Line Segments and USRA Line Codes... better be sure which railroad you are talking about. There were more than one Danville Secondaries.)
Santa Fe lines were all Districts before changing to Subdivisions in 1986.

PJS1 What does the term "Decatur Sub" mean? What does the term "Danville Secondary" mean?
These are the names of the lines as shown in the Employee Timetable. Sub is short for subdivision, which is a common term for a line that is less than the entire division, which is typical.
