KSW 1998 Derailment
Posted by SFbrkmn on Friday, March 2, 2018 10:13 PM

In 1998 KS Southwestern Ry had a derailment @ Geneseo, KS of which two engs in their fleet were destroyed.I'm trying to find which engs these were. I believe it might be 4912 & 4916, but cannot confirm this. Any leads or sources on where to find data of this would be of help.I have read the NTSB post-accident report. I do not need a link or access to the document.

you are saying that the NTSB report ......did NOT ...... report the engine numbers. these reports are usually so detailed that it surprises me. i was going to look it up but then you said no need to go there CORRECT? endmrw0304181422

The NTSB did not note the engine numbers concerned (6 engines on one train, 4 on the other was all the power detail they noted).  I don't know if the old LocoNotes had detail on the units involved at the time.

Correct on not bothering w/reading the NTSB report. Never know what the Feds will or will not tell us.
