Stencils should have read AAR Rule 90.
I have shops prep cars for scrap almost daily
Several times, lately, I have noticed on some 'general merchandise-type' trains passing through here, some cars that appeared to be near the 'end of their useful life'(?): paint almost rusted to the point of virtually gone, lettering illedgible/ barely readable, and so on. There have been a few boxcars, and older style grain hopper cars (mostly BN lettered flat side types); usually, in the train's consist, not necessarily on the rear-end positons.
So, thanks for the expanation!
