Who do they think they are, Chick-fil-A?

Of course, Chick-fil-A is surprisingly successful.

While that may be the company's published plan - the actual implementation will be dependent upon the UNPUBLISHED plans/actions of SMART and the BLE members during the preceeding and following periods.

I'm guessing the shutdown is in anticipation of the unannounced plans of SMART and BLET members.  Hopefully those members staying at the away from home terminal will be deadheaded home.

They've always shut down Christmas day (with the exception of a very few high priority locals for customers that can't shut down).

Crews do get Dh'ed home.

It's been fun.  But it isn't much fun anymore.   Signing off for now.

Such a shutdown had been a CSX norm in the pre EHH days what the norm is now is unknown.

Our operations don't officially and completely shut down, just run reduced operations.  Most yard jobs and locals don't work but through trains do run.  When they can find a crew, that is.

Last year, I went out at 3:40am 12/25 on an empty coal train.  Tied up at 9:25am at the far end.  Deadheaded home 12/26, on duty at 7:10am.  That worked out for me, I was home on the 24th and that's the day I'd rather be home.  The 24th is our wedding anniversary.  This year will be number 25, so operations may be reduced this year.
