I have seen those relavity short trains composed mostly of grain hoppers, with some ethanol tankcars, and a few empty reefers and wondered if they came directly from the Midwest. They always lacked all of the other cars that are common in the central and southern San Joaquin Valley.

Where's this list? Sounds interesting.

You can trace autocarriers on UP's website (it used to be that you could trace anything), it is for people who have ordered an automobile, they can get the car number from where they ordered it. However, it will not give information for any other type of equipment.

There is no list. You just enter the numbers. It is not interesting at all. I rarely visit it.

I resently found a list of unpatched SSW, SP, CNW, and DRG&W units. According to that list, there are 10 CNW's that are unpatched.

How many DRGW's does the list have left in original paint? Is there any way you could post a list of all of the above companies, I think there might be some people here interested in that. Or is it possibly in a website?

UP's automobile tracing lists the following locomotives as "No public trace information available" as opposed to "Not in equipment register"

SSW 7274, 7275, 7277, 7279, 7281, 7282, 7283, 7284, 7285, 7286, 7287, 7290, 7291, 7637, 7638, 7640, 7647, 7651, 7652, 7655, 7962, 9641, 9642, 9647, 9652, 9653, 9656, 9666, 9669, 9682, 9683, 9684, 9685, 9692, 9693, 9699, 9701, 9706, 9708

SP 8673 was listed as not processed due to an error.
SP 7859 was listed as no record of it being on the system lines.

It seems hard to believe that 10 years ago SP/SSW/DRGW had almost 2500 locomotives.

Most of them were repainted in UP colors I think. A few of them may have been sold or scrapped. I think they were painted in the 900 series at one time but dont know what happened after the renumbering.

If you read the Trackside with Erik and Mike Vol. 14 voting results story, you'll notice at the very bottom of the story I got a picture of C8-41C no. 8575 in Chicago (actually, Elmhurst) in late August, 2004. It was untouched at that point.

I'm not sure, I was `thinking that I saw one a couple of months ago, but actually it was 8828. It was parked in the small Longmont, Colorado yard on September 9th. Luckily I had my camera with me that day so I got a picture of it (unfortunatly I had to shoot it while rolling in my car).

From what I've heard, as of October, there was one (CNW 8828). Did UP renumber that yet?
