Though the Army’s decision calls for an environmental study of alternative routes, the Trump administration could ultimately decide to allow the original, contested route. Representatives for Mr. Trump’s transition team did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Mr. Trump owns stock in the company building the pipeline, Energy Transfer Partners, but he has said that his support has nothing to do with his investment.

Conflict of interest?  What's that?

Perhaps DJT shares RMN's views, as he stated so famously in the Frost interview:  If the president does it, it isn't illegal.”

It's interesting to observe that to many posters here when it comes to NIMBYism the ordinary man is always a dolt, but when it comes to firearms the ordinary man is wise and capable.

Not me, most folks that own a gun can't aim it worth a damn.   You only need to visit a local firing range to confirm that theory.    It's why I feel perfectly safe with open carry.    Most open carry folks will turn and run from a shooting, the ones that stand their ground......well...... a good portion of those folks are going to massively miss whatever it is they are shooting at and the bullets will sail off harmlessly into la-la land we hope.

There have been stories in the Chicago Tribune about farmers going into industrial hog farming where their neighbors find there is no recourse to the aromatic and waste byproducts that they incur due to their proximitry. Thats why pork is still cheap. Big AG. We like bacon but the neighbors of the pork growers suffer because the state legislators gutted at the request of the Ag Industry (and their contributions) the protections that had been in place earlier. Can't stifle the Ag Industry. EPA was unwilling to fight them. County politicians didn't live near them so they didn't care. All laws and regulations can be abused so I don't have a solution. Corporations can pay lawyers and PR firms to get their way many times. Big Pharma raises drug prices and there is no checks and balances to limit. Pay or get sicker. I'm fortunate. My insurance covers most of my meds. But if I get more of this angst, I may need more meds. Have a good day.

And that's the outcome which a lot of people dislike.  Some recognize the cause is the so-called "corporate state."

Having folks who are poor shots running around shooting guns is very scary and a public health hazard.  Ever heard of "innocent bystanders"? Plenty of gunshot victims in Chiucago are just that.

NBC news tonight reported that he supposedly sold his intrest in the pipeline.

Most people (Doesn't matter if they are right wing, left wing or middle of the bird.)  believe those that don't hold their view on any specific issue are dolts.

Natural gas being next on the hit list. Never giving a thought to what they would be doing for transportation, heat, cooling and light if it weren't for the exertions of the bad old fossil-fuel people.

Utter nonsense once again.  Some people simply accept and agree with science, while you prefer faith in your ideology (or another word, beginning with an i and ending in y).

I will accept science when it is done correctly, not by concensus.

Unfortunately, it is you who seems blinded by ideology (or another Id....y word) about the progressive agenda.  When do they stop?  They can't.  They. must. progress.  So after winning a "victory", they must find a new target of their bile.  So what will they complain about after coal and oil?
