What kind of dork gets a conrail tattoo?
It's been fun. But it isn't much fun anymore. Signing off for now.
The opinions expressed here represent my own and not those of my employer, any other railroad, company, or person.t fun any

Perhaps, a Foamer with too much time between trains?
Or maybe, a guy, who could not aford a military band to perform a Tatoo?
OP?
Never too old to have a happy childhood!

Forgive me for raining on this man's parade, but I never saw the Conrail logo displayed like this anywhere, anytime.
First, the color is (was) much more of a true blue; this looks to be blue-green.
Second, the symbol was never shown (that I know of) with the letters on their side. As shown, it looks like a theatre marquee. I'd have turned the letters 90 degrees clockwise.
Third, the very idea of putting a corporate logo of any sort on my (formerly, to be sure) beautiful body makes this Age of Aquarius Boomer just shivver with horror.
Fourth, in about 20 years, will this lad be saying of his tattoo, "No regerts"?

What started this is that a young freind of mine (22) has a Conrail Quility Tatoo. He got in railfanning via his instrest in grafftie art and then got sucked into geekdom from there.

Looks more like a stencilled or screen-printed paint job - too solid, dense, and uniform to be a tattoo - they're usually somewhat transparent/ less opaque/ faded/ thin, etc.

After the end of the performance, I saw that several other band performances are available.
I concur-it looks a lot like the temporary tatoos given out to kids. I have some Pointless Arrow and F40PH ones from Amtrak's 40th somewhere.
It does look to me like something that a child might want on him/her. As NKP guy said, it certainly is not true to life; it is something you might expect from someone who knows a little about Conrail and does not know enough, or care, to be true to the original.

Make the aquaintance of a pack of ten-year-old girls, I'm sure they can explain "cutie marks" to you!
How do I know? My spies are everywhere...
By the way, I was asked once if I'd ever gotten a tattoo when I was in the Marines.
"No!" I said, "I never got that drunk!"
You appear to have been a most unusual Marine. I don't think that I've ever met an ex-Marine without the globe and anchor tattooed somewhere.

There might be intellectual property issues with the tattoo.

I never saw a tattoo on either of my two marine friends in college--and I had occasion to see one in the buff, on his way to or from taking a shower. I saw the other one in the shower room from time to time. Sad to say, both are now gone.
tree68.... More Truth than poetry in THAT Statement !
It does not take as Tatoo to 'mark' one as a Marine... Parris Island ( '61 for 16 wks), and San Diego ( for however long?) leave permanent marks on one's psyche.. Create a Brotherhood, and shared experiences for life.
Semper Fi, Marines!

And THAT'S what wrong with the rest of the world!
(Took me a while to figure that one out, I'm just too easy-going.)

Drop "property" from the statement and I think you are absolutely correct.

This reminds me of those people in the Army that get the AIRBORNE WINGS tatoo before they graduate the course........then fail the course.........then get beat up by graduates of the course for having the tatoo, the rest of their lives.
Recently on Facebook I saw a tattoo that consisted of one short sentence with two unnecessary commas, no period, a confused use of their vs. they're, and two outright misspellings. I put a Conrail tattoo in the same general category.
