At least you get more time in the evening to sort through your photo collection, including adding captions

BNSF, I'll add to what you said:

Then you FINALLY decide to pack it up and head home and in my case (2 miles from the track), just when you get home and are walking to the houes you hear...you guessed it: The 'ole familiar horn in the distance!! Seems to happen to me EVERY time!

Yea I agree I don't like short days either. However I do absolutely love the snow, and I try to make the best out of it. I love to get snow shots of any train I can find! It's really cool. Becides that I love to snowboard and sled too. So when a blizzerd comes I'm outside all day into the night.

Unfortunatly the railroads seem to like to run all the good stuff (trains, rollingstock and locomotives) when its dark out. Thank the Lord for the video camera at least.

It was almost dark when the last eastbound in a line of 3 went by this afternoon - was worth waiting for - it was CN train 306 -- mostly empties but was headed by SD40-3 - GCFX 6078 -- just made out the number through the gloom -- but yes give me summer days anytime - we can still railfan at 2200 .

It makes railfaning with a camera shorter; that's for sure.

Nothing is weirder than being at home at the end of the day, watch a little TV, play on the computer and then you're ready for bed....

Look at the clock and it's 1830.......

WHAT?

That damn daylight savings time always screws me around.

I hate it when the days get shorter. There's not enough light at the end of the day to make that last shot of that last Train that you want realy badly,Even though your mind says keep Railfanning and though the sun just keeps creaping over that tree line making it even harder while waiting for that last Train to come your way. And to make matters worse those stupid shadows that just keep creeping closer and closer to the Train Tracks while still waiting for a train. Then what just kills me is when your mind tells you it's time to stop for the day just as the sun starts rolling over the tree line then you look at you watch and you watch says it's "only" 4pm............And I say to my self...........This just sucks.
Oh the wounders of Railfanning in the late fall.
In a way Railfanning CAN be a challenge!...........Sometimes.
But just as light starts to fade very quickly and it becomes well known that you are running out of light and your light meter reads negative for that last Train,The one that you have been waiting for all day decides to show up(GRRR).
I HATE SHORT DAYS![:(!].
