I envy you and wish I could be in Glenwood Springs, too. I'm sure you already know how scenic the canyon is upstream from the depot, and there is a rest area or two on I-70 that should give you a view of the westbound train and still allow you to get into town to catch it at the station.
Even though the weather may be chilly, the hot spring pool across from the depot is still great. I think the day fee is $8 or so. If you are going to give it a try, take a big thick bath towel or a robe, so you don't freeze between the water and the locker room.
And please post pictures if you can.

On Saturday, I migut get to see the California Zephyr at Glenwood Springs,Colorado!!!!! Arent you proud of me!?!?!?!?! I'm exited, then I can say I'll have seen bothe of the trains that come through Colorado!! HAve a good day
