I have lots of MOW photos, but I'm not amenable to putting them on Photobucket for others to pirate.

For the little bit it costs me, I love having my own webspace.  It might not cure the piracy, but they've got to come to the sites I post on to see anything in the first place...

Looking through what I have edited, I realize I am in one heck of a slump.  Haven't really shot anything good in ages.

  So post something bad.  Whistling

I have lots of MOW photos, but I'm not amenable to putting them on Photobucket for others to pirate. Besides, there are some in those pictures who would likely not want to be identified. Some were captured with complicity of those parties.

Photobucket is a lot easier than Flickr to post photos directly anymore.

Looking through what I have edited, I realize I am in one heck of a slump.  Haven't really shot anything good in ages.

So I dug this up from 2010.  A pair of York Railway (G&W-owned) CF7s back their cars to the NS York yard to drop off outbound cars.

The opinions expressed here represent my own and not those of my employer, any other railroad, company, or person.

I didn’t realize it was that much work.

Once the Photobucket or Flicker account is created, it’s only a few mouse clicks worth of effort to post a photo, at least for me.

Tell ya what, since  Kalmbach won’t give us everything we each want, in the manner we want it, let’s just allow this thread to die and skip the whole idea.

Easy solution, create a Photobucket site…its free, you don’t get spammed, it is easy to upload from and post with it, and all forums I have ever been a part of allow it to post.

Creating the extra steps to put pictures on 3rd party sites is the 'drag' on user submitted images.  Just more 'crap' to do to get to the end result.

You upload to photobucket, then copy the image link to any Word program, and add your text there and then highlight the entire document including the photo link and copy, then on the trains site, click reply, when the reply box opens, there is an icon at the top with w blue W in it, simply click on the W and your photo and text will copy to the reply box, click on the insert logo and post.

Done.

I too had wished this thread would generate more interest and more readers photos…I don’t intend for it to be a personal photo blog, and I had hoped it wouldn’t become a place for folks to cut and paste others work, or the joke photos….more along the line of a resource where you could post a photo of say, a locomotive or car you needed to have identified or need more detailed info on, and folks like Carl could post such info.

Maybe a snap shot from your younger days showing a depot or location, and you need to know where…that kinda thing.

Got a shot you think folks would like to see,or you just want to show it off,  I was hoping it would show up here.

Ah well….

Ed,

I was glad to see this thread when you first posted it; alas, it seems to not have generated the interest I had hoped for.

I thought it would be a nice alternative to the official "Photo of the Day" offered by Kalmbach, which is mostly a posting of a very few 'select' picture-takers, and if you're not one of them, good luck getting your photo on the site ( I will not mention any names (yet)).

A few months ago, as I had too much time on my hands, I tallied up the number of photos shown that were taken, and the percentages were way tilted towards the select few.  I will admit, however, that lately there have been many more images taken by other contributors.

If the forum software allowed users to directly upload their photos from their computers I am sure there would be more photos loaded.

There is forum software that does - but not Kalmbach's.

Z:  Maybe because there is no fuss & feathers here and no notoriety.  And I can't even help out unless you want to see a lot of pix of my shoes.  (How does this thing work - click)

Why don't you post some?

How about this result of a grade crossing accident.  The RDC had a minor dent on the pilot, but I suspect the van will end up even more damaged when it gets pulled down.  As far as I know the driver was just shaken up.

Looks to me as though the elephant has taken a "love interest" in the locomotive.. I've known some railfans who've had similiar inclinations.
