Why stop at the Pacific or Alantic ocean take Amtrak around the world with Freighter Ship Travel!

Transpacific Connections Via Cargo Boat out of Seattle

We do not recomend that you stowaway on a boat to get to Asia but there are Legal Ways to cross the Pacific Ocean to Japan and Asia Legaly. Hajin and Hapag
and APL do not accept walk ons but you have to deal with a travel Agent that
Specilises in Freighter Travel.
The Follwinng was the reply that we got.
Hi sir-
yes it is possible
The fleet of 7 HANJIN ships sail from Seattle to Pusan in Korea then on
to Shanghai on
a regular basis - sailings take about 13 days at a cost of US$1700.00
including the port
fees and Deviation Insurance:
one ship is set out below - they are all identical

---We could go more into detail but it kind of works like this:
You call up one of the Freighter Specilist listed below and give them at least
30-14 days notice. The Lowest fare that we got was 1100 for a single bedroom cabin.
Which compared to full cruise lines is not bad. LA to Hawaie is like 10,000.
the QE2 to England is 5,000 grand Exepect to be bored out of your mind for any were from 14 to 16 days depending on Weather. Best to bring games and your personal collection of Star Trek DVDs.
Our associate was well loved by the ships cook because he took opon himself to work in the kithchen to pass the time while he was there. Most ships have a full
kitchen. Some cargo ships have a small pool and Excersise room with sauna.
The Crews are mostly Chinese with a few eceptions and as a rule are very freindly. Gambiling is a way of life for them in order to supplment there meager salerys. So be carefull as to hedge your bets in spades!.
Bikes are welcome but please tell the agent that you have one so it can be hanndled properly. Passenger rail connections in asia are avalible in Hong Kong
BUT YOU CAN FORGET ABOUT HOPPING FREIGHTS OVER THERE! because the chinese may hold you indefinatly as a potentiol spy. Expect no help from the US should you get arrested. If you are Canadian you are in luck and expect to be treated with respect unless you are in Vietnam and speak french
Destinations are Seattle-Shanghie-Korea
Seattle-Japan
Vancouver-Tokeo
Long Beach-South Korea
Also from Montreal QB there is a CP Ship that goes to England

* PLEASE NOTE: PORT TAXES, CUSTOMS USER TAX, AND DEVIATION INSURANCE FEES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RATES QUOTED IN THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BECAUSE THEY VARY FROM LINE TO LINE AND DEPEND UPON THE ROUTING. They will be quoted at the time reservations are confirmed (and can range from $10 to $330 per person). Deviation Insurance is an insurance premium paid by the passenger to cover the ship in the event that the ship must be diverted from its route due to a passenger reason. The insurance coverage thus pays to the ship owner the costs of operation of the ship on a deviated route.

** These fares are established by the Shipping Lines in either Euros or British pounds (£), and therefore must be paid to the Lines in the stated currencies by Freighter World Cruises. Estimated U.S.$ fares are based on currency exchange rates of US$1.30 to Euro 1.00 and US$1.90 to £1. The final U.S. dollar fare will be based on the exchange rate at the time the currency is purchased. Any decrease in the final fare from that quoted above will be refunded, and any increase will be collected.

To sum the above peice up for those who do want to go though the whole thing..

Chigago to Seattle via Amtrak then freighter to Shanghie then China Railways..

Vancouver To Japan then Nippon Railways

Long Beach to New Zealland then to Australia then to mainland asia...

Also tramp freighters from Cleveland OH to Poland (Gee I could go back and vistit my long lost relitives[V][V][V][V])
All these trips need docters Okay and passport... Avarage fare is about 1500 each way which if you spent a day on amtrak would be about the same...Food is Incuded..
Now My only problem here is ,,,Do Chinese railroads hook up with Russia somewere?
