On July 11, 2009 marked 50 years of operation of the Colorado Railroad Museum (CRRM) and if you know anything about this little gem of a RR Museum you know they would mark this event with some flair.To begin with there was the Dignitary Pomp and Circumstance speeches and then they started a "Parade" a parade of _______________!!!!!!!

To Stourbridge Lion, thanks for the pictures! I've been to the CRMM, and yes, they are a class act. To bad I live half-a-continent away, I'd have loved to have been there!

Well, it wasn't every piece of operational equipment they have but you can only run so much at the same time. Now, lets see what other photos Lisa and I took of the parade followed by VIDEO!!! of the event...
Crazy Day!!!!!!!
OK, I think I have figured out what photos of Lisa's to post in this edition of RRAdventures and now working on the order of posting them... Let me set the scene of how this day went, we arrived to late to catch D&RGW #346 being turned on the Turntable and lashing up with caboose #40 but we will catch the others not counting the speeder since it was just lifted onto the track as it normally would. Now keep in mind, the "Loop" track is about 0.4 miles and while they loaded each engine onto the Turntable and brought onto the mainline, those already on the line were running around the track. So, as one shots photos/video of the turntable action, engines keep passing by you; EEK! which action should I shot now!. Once they are all running on the "Loop" together we wanted to catch a few Run-By's but again they are running so close together one can miss one engine while get shots of another so it was one Crazy Day!!!!!!!

With so many things happening at the same time, I decide to group the photos of each photo event together starting with the photos Lisa took of the Turntable action starting with RGS#2. Lisa took a ton of shots so I've tried to pick just a few to show different angles of the engine as it rotated before us...

Next engine on the Turntable is RGS#6 & once again Lisa catches a ton of shots to pick from. - -

With action occurring on the "loop" in from of Lisa she will only catch a few shots of "Golden City & San Juan" engine #3 and I've pick this one as my favorite.

Next up on the turntable is RGS#7 and Lisa once again got a ton of shots for me to pick from.

Lisa catches the "Golden City & San Juan" engine #4 next on the turntable but action on the "loop" will keep her from getting a head-on shot but got lots of nice side shots to pick from.

The last engine Lisa will catch on the Turntable is Denver & Rio Grande Western #50

Lisa will also catch one last shot of the 5 Stall Roundhouse from where she was positioned before changing locations for more photo opportunities. Lots of great work occurs in these walls as demonstrated by the days events.
D&RGW OB Pile Driver
As Lisa and I move to a different location we see a piece of equipment in the yard that is not normal and take a few shots. We learn it's just been moved here for work and also some "fun" that will be coming in another RRAdventures topic.

Now in a new position along the loop Lisa takes several more shots of the Engine Parade and I've picked one of each... Here is Denver and Rio Grande Western #346 with D&RGW Caboose #10
