Fri. 08/20/04.
I just heard on my scanner that all westbound trains must use the Kennard siding starting tonight until tomorrow night, because of the maintence equment will stay on the main track.main.1.
Plus maintence crews just installed new concrete ties on the main in Blair at the lumber track switch.

I think they are just east of Kennard siding. That's judging by the slow orders. My last trip west it was dark and I was riding the second unit, so couldn't see where the wood ends and the cement begins. The outfit ties up at night on the Kennard siding.

A message on the bulletin board at work says we will be detouring until October over the CN/IC. Someone said they work 10 days on then 6 or 7 days off.

According to UP on line, they will install 52,000 cement ties on the Blair sub. Also the "industry" track at Arlington will get a new switch with cement ties. It's already built, ready to slide into place.
When I was tieing up last night (7/22) at Boone, a couple of deadhead crews to Fremont were being converted into dogcatch crews. They were going to go by van to westbounds short on time, then take the trains on into Fremont. The P-811 and related gangs were moving their machinery to Kennard, and were taking longer than expected.

I understand that the P11 crew just finished up last week installing concrete ties on the Boone Sub.
Starting on monday the UP will do heavy work on this Blair line.
I see new rail that needs to be installed and UP is installing concrete switches at kennard plus new main line signals too.
Does anyone know what kind of other work is scheduled at this time.
The UP is still detouring trains over the CNIC railroad.
Thanks.
