Canadian National #2599

This number plate was given to my father by a friend of his in New Brunswick back in the 70's. Can anyone tell me what steam engine it is from..and better yet how I might find a picture of this engine?

What type of Metal is the CN 2599 Number Plate made from, Please. Some are Cast Iron, and usually Painted Red with Yellow Letttering.

Others are Cast Brass/Bronze and usually have Red Background with Metal Showing.


There is a List Published of 'Known' CN Steam Number Plates, over 600, and the Material of which they are made.

That's a really neat picture of a steam engine. I love the steam engines!!

The number plate is of cast brass/bronze with the numbers and the words CANADIAN at the top and NATIONAL at the bottom and the border in gold color. The back of the plate is painted black. And its very heavy too, I might add!!!

Dear Sir,


You are very Fortunate to Possess a Bronze Canadian National Steam Locomotive Number Plate, they are Beautiful.


The Museum that has CN 2601 wants the Plate for this Locomotive, but, its going to cost them, as the 2601 Plate Owner knows it's Value.


In short, do not do yourself a disservice and sell your Plate fron CN 2599 WITHOUT finding whats it REALLY worth. They do NOT go Cheap when trying to buy one.
