Pretty much, at least they kept the trains running. Like I said it was our railroad around here and what I saw, can't say anything frompersonal experience what it was to run anything by them.
You're right Awesome, there are still some around although becoming rare. I thought some were kept in that scheme for CSAO but never been sure how all that worked.
ns3010, I can see you are done with this thread and when things get out of hand thats a good solution..but I hope you stick around. We have had a couple of good conversations about the local stuff and I wouldn't want to miss out on that.
ns3010 Ya know what, I'll go ahead and take you advice and be done here. wabash1and i dont play with face book or fritter or any of that other crap Instead of spending my time here, I'll spend it on Facebook and TWITTER and other things that would be a better use of my time than sitting here dealing with this crap.Meanwhile, you can continue to complain about having to run "Con-fail" crap and having a great time thinking about me in my fantasy land.

Here is a reality check for you, I dont think about you til you reply to something ive said, Then I notice your from Jersey and then i feel bad about telling you the truth and spoiling your daydream ( not to big a word for you is it?) and for being so blunt and to the point, Your starting to sound like those cry baby engineers and conductors when the last days of conrail was comming to the end " boo hoo i dont want to work for csx i dont want to work fo NS. boo hoo" we will shut it down we wont work bla bla bla, us guys on the NS told them like the company did also, turn your keys in radios and leave we will fill the jobs not a problem,

trainfan1221 Well I'll say Happy Birthday to Conrail. I know everyone has their opinions and I respect that, and I would certainly not argue with someone with actual personal experience with CR either before or after. Simply put, around here Conrail was our railroad..and as such its what I saw and got my train watching from. And they put on a good show at times. So, just my opinion and a quick Happy Birthday to CR. And I agree, CSAO isn't really the same thing.

Roy:
We missed those blue locomotives but they are still alive. NS & CSX are still run those blue locomotives.
zugmann Do you you get this problem even with the cab signals cut in, and the LSL cut out? Or does the LSL have to be cut in? (we never cut in the LSL unless we go out into LSL territory).

(we never cut in the LSL unless we go out into LSL territory).
that is what throws the penalty on us , some stay cut in and we never have a problem but every now and then we get one that stops is dead in our tracks and like i said they will tell us to beat the lock off and I will.
It's been fun. But it isn't much fun anymore. Signing off for now.
The opinions expressed here represent my own and not those of my employer, any other railroad, company, or person.t fun any
oltmanndwabash1 when you guys humor me i will put lol or roflmao. especially when your wrong and in fantisy landThat's the only reason you read all this stuff, it seems. And when engineers come up with whacky ideas, I call them on it. They don't get out much beyond their own little circle. Some of the craziest stuff I've heard on the RR has come out of the mouths of train crews.
wabash1 when you guys humor me i will put lol or roflmao. especially when your wrong and in fantisy land
That little circle you talk about you must envey but isnt that why you read the post , you have got into the mix of humorus post so dont lie and say no, and yes i give the straight and true answers to the questions as they was at the last time i worked, because if you ever worked for a railroad, things that applied 5 minutes ago dont apply now.
Lots of people complain that certain post are offensive other think certain people should not be allowed to post and give the moderators a hard way to go, and the best censor of material sits right behind your own desk there. if something offends you dont read it dont go back to that thread. simple there are thread on the board here i have not read or i went there didnt interest me and never went back, others i quit reading because they went south like the oreos and goats fog and others things posted, And this thread has went south also, I asked a simple question at the begining and been rode ever since, Ive got broad shoulder and you wont offend me. I call it con-fail no secreat, and i will say that the sd60 whisper cabs was some of the best engines they had, the sd 70s was ordered by conrail but was ns property before they was delivered to conrail. but after that not impressed with the junk.
I will give you guys one opertunity to change my mind and get on the con-rail bandwagon. and here it is. If this is such a important day and such a great thing, then have it made into a national holliday so i can have the day off with pay just like the dead presidents. If you get that to happen Ill hold the big blue flag kick anyones but who speaks bad about con- rail and even supply the coffee the morning of the festival. but until then.......
oltmanndwabash1 zugmann wabash1 you might be right except for one little thing, all the dash 9s and sd70 and sd60 that come thru here with cab signals, Yeah.. we always get those engines with the cabs cut out. Guess theys ascared of dem little yeller lights in the cab. those little yellow lights are ok but when they kick in they only let me go 19mph, makes a long night You mean the NS guys on your end of the railroad STILL don't know how to set up a lead locomotive with the LSL cut out? It's been almost 11 years you know.

No its been longer than that, and yes we can set them up do it all the time , but i dont have a key to the box, and its not my job so i wont do it til instructed to tear it up
blownout cylinder wabash1 those little yellow lights are ok but when they kick in they only let me go 19mph, makes a long night When do those things turn on? And is it specific to a certain speed? Some silly questions from this little one again----

Those lights are on at all times there are cut out of service when they leave the area in which they are used, but every now and then we get them cut in and they run just fine til ( and this is straight from mechanical operations) there is a spike in the voltage in the rail which the unit will pick up( look at a pic of a dash 9 engine that little device on side of cab with a yellow clearance lens on it antena) this sets a penalty application immediately, and we cant reset this and we dont have a key to the box so I have beat the locks of the thing and sometimes destroying the box to. then i move the switch to cut out and proceed.most everyone i have gotten will throw me in penalty at 19 mph a few at 21mph.

ns3010 Ah, true that. I didn't think of that. And it's more along the lines of "ROFLMAO" BTW, I can PROMISE you that absolutely no one says "rofl." I have just about never seen anyone say that. The only things you see on Facebook or in texts is "lol," "lmao," or "lm*ao." Just sayin...

that just proves my point, you absolutely promise that no one says rofl and you wouldnt have started your bitchin about it if i wasnt doing it so i am someone and i still use it along with words like cool bookin i havent used far out in a decade, so i guess your word is not worth spit.
you might be right except for one little thing, all the dash 9s and sd70 and sd60 that come thru here with cab signals, but its like i said its not worth my time to fight over your fantisy, ill read all the crap you want to post, but in the end im a engineer who has run that con-rail junk and you guys are the ones who stand around and look at the junk, and i dont play with face book or fritter or any of that other crap. i also have big shoulders and thick skin go ahead i can take the bull, been doing it for years it seems to be a qualifacation to work for railroads. when you guys humor me i will put lol or roflmao. especially when your wrong and in fantisy land
Paul_D_North_JrNot to split hairs here, but I notice that wabash1 didn't include the ''-2''s for the GP38's and SD40's that he said were not owned by ConRail but by Southern Rwy. Does what he posted make more sense if we ask if there are ex-SR early GP38'S and SD40's that are now owned by NS that he operates ? Which appears to be in the western part of the NS system = former SR lines perhaps ?, since he respected the Rock Island and has seen the TRRA SW1500's first-hand, based on his recent posts. - Paul North.

zugmann I think the straight SD40s and GP38s are long gone. Both CR or NS.

The reason Wabash doesn't see many ex-CR units down his way is cab signal/LSL. He knows this but is playing sly with us.
I wish I could have been around to see BIG BLUE operate, but I was born in 95’, so I didn’t get the chance. I still see a few CR SD50 and such. Which are stenciled with NS markings.
I guess that I still have a little part of Conrail every workweek. My schools nickname is BIG BLUE!!! (most everyone else thinks of our football team. I think of Conrail!)

i meant unpatched units on csx and ns. was typing to fast
cr6479: The locos in the links I posted above are patched, as well as the one in your avatar.
ns3010 That would be A LOT of work for everyone to Photoshop all those! And I believe there are no unpatched CR locos. I think they all have different numbers now, both NS and CSX.

I've known a few people that would do stuff like that---just to be miserable.
I never did bother to find out why---
none of conrail units are patch that i know of on csx or ns
