Teamster action results in 2,000 job losses

CHICAGO -- USF Corporation issued a press release May 23 that it is shutting down its USF Red Star trucking company immediately following a job action by the Teamsters union. More than 2,000 employees lost their jobs.
Red Star said the work stoppage created "a loss of customers and revenue to a point where Red Star would never be able to recover from the business losses caused by this Teamster job action."

It will be interesting to see what if any impact this closure has on rail freight. Possibly not a greaqt deal as much of it is likely LTL freight. It may be similar to the end of Consolidated Freightways a couple of years back...

The owner will just keep the equipment , put it in his wife's name and reopen non union. Happens all the time. The new employees will make $10 an hour or 10 cents a mile with no benefits.
