And a couple of oldies (REAL oldies) but goodies--these are all for real, not made up-all from the early 1900's:

Waco, Beaumont, Trinity and Sabine====Wobbly, Bobbly, Turnover and Stop (you can see one of their little locos -upright- at the Galveston RR museum)

Quanah, Acme and Pacific=====Quit Arguing and Push (I love that one) No wonder they never made it past Floydada!

Houston East and West Texas=====Hell Either Way you Take it

SP's Tillamook Branch - now the POTB - was orginally the Pacific Railroad and Navigation Company. It still lives up to the name it quickly acquired even into 2004 --- "Punk, Rotten and Nasty"

Weatherford, Mineral Wells, & Northwestern (WMWN), line acquired by Texas & Pacific. "Whiskey, More Whiskey & No Water." City of Mineral Wells, TX acquired the line from the UP and operated it as the Mineral Wells & Eastern for a short time (GP30 for power), but it has been abandoned and turned into a trail.

Poor and Needy and Other Nicknames

Someone said N&W stood for Needs Washing and my favorite local one was the P&N which stood for Poor and Needy. Any others out there?

Nothing is more fairly distributed than common sense: no one thinks he needs more of it than he already has.
