C&NW real plans to buy some SD80MAC. The order was canceled or, more possible, never placed.
Possible that UP´s control over C&NW was the reason. The UP doesn´t like 20 cylinder engines since the SD45 problems. Possible it was a financial problem.
So the only AC´s that C&NW owned was a fleet of 35 GE AC4400 numbered 8801 - 8835.

As are as i know CNW never owned any SD80s

I know Conrail was going for 30 more, but then NS and CSX had them switch it to the 70's and 70MAC's (unfortunetly). I know CP was gonna pick some up, but obviously that order never came about either...

I read 5 to 35 in a book it was going to be tacked on a conrail order

Does anyone know how many SD80MAC's Northwestern was looking to buy before they were gobbled up by UP?
