Summer 2016 reading challenge recap

I must confess, I didn't take a terribly difficult route with this project. Chalk it up to the travel – on the road three of four weekends in the month. But, I believe, that I still made progress, and pushed myself to do a little more reading.

While I was sifting through my home library for something to read, I stumbled on the books I purchased last summer in Colorado, had shipped home, and never really looked at again. Shame on me.

So, this month, I made a effort to go through each book, page by page. I don't claim to be an expert on any of the subjects now, but I can claim a newfound appreciation for Colorado railroading – a state largely foreign to me until the 2015 Trains Magazine tours. Of course, the Akron, Canton & Youngstown is a railroad from my home state, so I already had a draw to that. Ditto the Wabash, and, in fact, this very book was in the public library when I was a kid. I'm glad to have a copy now to call my own. And Florida? I can remember family vacations to the Sunshine State as a kid, to many of the locations shown in these books. It was great to learn more about the often rusty rails, and at least one bike path, that I remember from my youth.

What did you read for the month?
