Two Wisconsin & Southern MP15 switchers haul the Milwaukee Job out of Canadian Pacific's Muskego Yard on a warm summer night. Canon EOS 30D, 7/1/2011, 1/640 sec, f/6.3, ISO 320, 70mm. Drew Halverson photo
It's been a while since the Wisconsin & Southern has been featured in my photo project. It's been too long. I wasn't able to get trackside yesterday, so I'm taking a photo from the backup folder. This photo is at a new location and of a new train, so it counts! And, let me add that the WSOR is a great operation, and if you're ever in Wisconsin, stop and see these guys in action!
What I like:
The two switchers and all of their differences. Both are former Milwaukee Road MP15s, but only the leader has fresh paint. They both show the heritage of this city and state, and I like that! And, I like the blackbird hanging out in the bushes in the foreground, a nice, subtle addition.
What I don't like:
The lack of sunlight. I don't really like the graffiti in the background either, but it does add to the city scene.
What I learned:
Try a location no matter what. I decided to try this spot in less than ideal lighting conditions, but now I know what I want from it when I return. During the winter, when the sun is at my back, after a fresh snowfall, and there's an icy water surface, this might just work!
