Prep the model by letting it soak the in vinegar.
Rinse with warm water and let dry overnight trying not to touch surfaces for painting.
I definately would recommend that you use 1 or 2 coats of Floquil primer before going to your RR colors.

I got hold of an old HO FT shell in brass that had never been painted and mounted it to an Athearns F7 frame. I never have done brass and it's old and tarnished. How do I prep it for paint, and are the fine sceens on it a problem with paint bridging them closed?
