Painting brass
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 11:49 AM
I got hold of an old HO FT shell in brass that had never been painted and mounted it to an Athearns F7 frame. I never have done brass and it's old and tarnished. How do I prep it for paint, and are the fine sceens on it a problem with paint bridging them closed?

Prep the model by letting it soak the in vinegar.
Rinse with warm water and let dry overnight trying not to touch surfaces for painting.
I definately would recommend that you use 1 or 2 coats of Floquil primer before going to your RR colors.
