Try the site for Ted York's Cajon Pass HO layout. He has a number of prototype photos also.

Nigel - Some questions:
What do you use to support the plywood? If well-supported (say every 16"), do you think you could use even thinner plywood?

I like Alleene's Tacky Glue, too, for the roadbed-to-foam part, but do you use it to glue the foam to the plywood as well? (I was a little leery of using it for that, so I used Liquid Nails.

Did you get 4" foam by layers, or where did you find 4" thick foam? If layers, did you use Alleene's there as well?

Thanks,
billk

PS I see you registered at The Gauge a while back!

Hi Louie;

You need "Modeling Cajon" by Peter Youngblood, unfortunately out of print.

And should probably get "Santa Fe in the Mountains: Three Passes of the West: Raton, Cajon, and Tehachapi (Golden Years of Railroading)" by George H. Drury

Personally, I am believer in foam; 4" of extruded foam on 3/16" plywood, Woodland Scenics foam roadbed, and risers as required. Alleene's Tacky Glue (http://www.duncancrafts.com/products/product.asp?ID=51&SID=12) is used to hold it together - I get it at Wal-Mart.

Cajon Pass & Cookie Cutter Method
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, June 20, 2003 11:41 AM
Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the hobby and I'm interested in finding prototype information on the Cajon Pass and with some photo's. Is there a specific place to go on the web?
Also, I'm going to be using the cookie cutter method for the bench work. Is this a good idea or are there better ways.
Thanks to all for for help with this.

Louie
