Any tips on putting one of these craftsman wood kits together? Adhesives, jigs, etc. How to get started? Thanks. Jim

Jim, Here are a couple of things I found helpful. Don't use water-based stain or paint, It will warp the wood. If it has full size plans, get the creases out of it, tape it down, then tape a piece of wax paper tight over the top. You can line up pieces & glue over the top of it without damaging the instructions. I like good old Elmer's glue, just wipe up any excess or stain and paint adhere to the glue. Put masking tape on the back of wall sections when you cut out for doors and windows, it helps keep the wood from splitting. It has been several years since I built a campbell kit, they are a blast, but to expensive for my budget. Good luck

Jim Kelly has good advice in the MR issue on the Turtle Creek -- use sharp knife blades to cut that heavy card stock. Don't be afraid to toss what seems like a "new" blade if it isn't doing the job

Paint all the wood parts with walmart paint place grau primer to seal the wood, use wood glue. Paint the building colors of your choice over the gray primer, sand lightly until some of the gray shows through to make the building look old. For the shingles panit any color of your choosing, use pastel sticks raw seanna and burnt umber, rub on sand paper and use the powder with a dry brush also on the main blding. Make a wash 1 teaspoon of indian ink to 1 pint of achol, brush lightly on roof and building. For signs sand back lightly and apply with white glue, after application rub lightly with sand paper to make it look old, use dry pastel powder and ink wa***o make it look old. In each step proceed with caution.

years ago, there was an exellent article in MODEL RAILROADER about how to build one. I think it was by Jim Kelly, and I think it was the August, 1983 issue.
"I have a message...Lt. Col....Henry Blakes plane...was shot down...over the Sea Of Japan...it spun in...there were no survivors".
