Some one there may an shed some light on your problem. I have a Chief system and have not had problems other than my own mistakes. I've had this system since 1999. If they won't, then go to Digitrax. Reply rrinker Member sinceFebruary 2002 From: Reading, PA 30,002 posts Posted by rrinker on Saturday, March 19, 2005 6:04 PM Definitely A. ANd try just disconnecting the PowerPax, shorting out the output should not have done anything to the Zephyr - heck, you short the things out on purpose when you do the 'quarter test", it's DESIGNED to take that. The Powerpax, however, cautions you against shorting the unit out. Guess they didn;t build in any short protection. The only thing that should be connected tot he Powerpax input is the Program Track outputs of the Zephyr. And the only thing the PowerPax output should be connected to is a competely isolated programming track - a seperate strip of track NOT part of the laypout is the safest bet. I also still contend, based on the three BLI (well, one's an Atlas, but it's the same QSI elecronics) locos I have, plus my Zephyr, that the PowerPax is NOT necessary. --Randy Modeling the Reading Railroad in the 1950's Visit my web site at www.readingeastpenn.com for construction updates, DCC Info, and more. Reply Anonymous Member sinceApril 2003 305,205 posts Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, March 19, 2005 5:53 PM Try choice "A". I have a Zephyr and have had no problems. They should warrantee it okay. Paul Reply Edit Anonymous Member sinceApril 2003 305,205 posts Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, March 19, 2005 5:51 PM Try A. The company will make it good. Why did you buy a booster to program the Zephyr? That certainly isn't necessary. You can program all locos right from the Zephyr.I have done ten of mine and I do not have a booster. Maybe wires got crossed. If you bought it from your LHS maybe they can help you get it figured out. Sometimes things don't work as they should no matter how fast short circuits are detected. Go with Plan A. They will do right by you or we all will hear about it here in due time. Archie Ain't it great!!! Reply tomwatkins Member sinceDecember 2002 From: US 736 posts Posted by tomwatkins on Saturday, March 19, 2005 4:50 PM I'd suggest "A". I've had very few problems with my Digitrax system. Two in ten years, that I can remember. The first was while it was in warranty and they fixed under warranty. The second was last year and it cost $35.00 to get the command station repaired. They're a good company, they make a good product, but nobody's perfect. Tom Watkins Reply Anonymous Member sinceApril 2003 305,205 posts Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, March 19, 2005 3:24 PM I'd say A - assuming you wired it exactly as in the instructions the problems aren't your fault, they're the manufacturers. Get in touch with them (I'd suggest calling them, as it's harder for them to dodge phone calls than emails). Ask for their advice - explain your problem and ask what they suggest, as nothing (certainly nothing that expensive) should fail within 2 weeks. You might decide you want to accept a refund and change systems - it's your call here, I like Lenz but that's personal preference, others like different systems. Hope this helps!
