***,
I don't even want to think on how much snow we got, but I think work wise it has been one of the worst in a few years,,, the one good thing with this last storm, the kids are not at the school, they are away for spring break,, so it was not a dire emermgency to get in there early and get everything opened up...

but now we have to hoep that the playing fields melt off in a week or so!!!

Well, sunny here too most of the day, about a hundred miles north of Northville. Almost warmed up to freezing. The calendar says Spring is right around the corner. Some early birds have shown up at the feeder outside my window, but a lot of snow is still going to have to melt before they get the worm.

Just got back from a delightful morning of cross-country skiing at Lapland Lake X-C Center near Northville, NY. The snow was great; the tracks solid; the sun was out; and there was a couple flying a kite while skiing on the lake.

The way to survive winter is to enjoy it[:D][:D]

WHY WON'T IT SNOW MORE [censored]!!!!! I am sick and tired of this +15c weather. It is too hot for march. I love the snow soooo much, as it's the only good thing about winter. What would you do in -30c temperatured with no grass and no snow?

All that snow reminds me of why I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area from Cleveland, OH over 20 years ago. I do not miss it at all.

Looks like Nova Scotia got harder hit than New Brunswick this year - great for us! Here's another look at my "snow machine" - everything is not as it appears!

Rex,
You had a warmer day "up north" than we did. Must be all the hot air coming out of Bryant-Denny[:D].
Just messin' with ya. Dave

Very nice 81here in BAMA country. Even got a slight sunburn catching a few rays instead of working on the layout. We would take a few inches of snow from you guys every now and then. If we get 1/2 inch, everything stops.

Sorry California, you can keep all your rain. [:D][:D]

[:D] We tell that same story around here, too. Usually though, the reason that door is up there is because the stairs fell down years ago.

Hey all,

If it's any consolation, I got stuck in a snow drift going to work about a week & a half ago. I can almost hear Jeff Foxworthy using that as part of his stand-up routine. "If you've ever been stuck in a snow drift at 4:00 in the morning...you might be a redneck." LOL

Look at the bright side. All the snow is a reason to stay in and do some work on the layout.

All of you folks describing your snow reminded me of why I moved to Texas 17 years ago. It's 80 degrees here this afternoon. [:D]

OTOH, you folks have railroad rooms under your "thick roofs"; all I've got is a @#$%%^ slab. [sigh]

Thanks,
Chuck

Snowing off & on here today as usual, but it's above zero & not windy, so I'm happy. I'm getting itchy to get back out to the abandoned D&H roadbed where the dirt I'm using on my new layout lives. I suppose I could dig down through the snow and chip frozen blocks of dirt loose, but that seems like more work than I care do.

A few years ago, March brought several storms that buried us in about 11 feet of snow. Die-hards were skiing Whiteface Mountain until mid-May. This winter is mild in comparison.

[:D] GrandFunk.....snowed in, huh?? Seems like a good opportunity to plan that siding extension...or perhaps to add some additional detail to that bare spot on the layout. At least your SO isn't suggesting that you go outside and mow the grass, or aerate the lawn, or turn the garen, or all thecrap I know my SO is thinking of.......
Here is WA state, we are officially in a drough, according to the non-elected govenor. We need all the snow and rain we can get. If the weather gods want to dump on someone, please send them our way. We are seeing the bottoms of lakes that haven't been seen in decades....Talk about your stark landscapes!!
(Son of a gun...she just came in and "suggested" that I go outside and help the 13 yr old mow the yard.....Gads....GIVE ME SNOW!!!)

Snow? Send some our way!! In easstern Washington & Northern Idaho we have a shortage. Only 25% of normal snowpack, and farmers & power operators are woried. Gov. to (or did, I'm not sure) delclare a "drouth emergency". Ski & Winter resorts closed early, etc. Haven't had anything to speak of since Christmas.

I grew up in ALASKA. Most depressing Christmas I ever had as a kid was in Southern California. Stop & Think: while you sit and stare into the fire in the fireplace with you best friend (Snow bunny or Pooch, - take your choice) the poor schmo in SoCal is out mowing his grass!! [8D]

Don't get me wrong - I model Snow scenes as well as Desert scens. A number of my family are "snowbirds" - they migrate to sunny climates during the winter. As I age, I may join them!

Snow? Snow means Camping Weather! Skiing, tobogganing, snowshoeing, sleding, ice skating, snow man building, warm fires at night, crisp winds, rosy cheeks (I'm starting to make myself sick here). [soapbox] Up here in the Finger Lakes, we have a saying. "If you don't like the weather, just wait a minute..........."

This is some of the partly cloudy we had up here earlier this winter.

When we get a couple of feet of this stuff, we just push it aside and keep on going. What do you people out in California do with 20" of Rain???????? (My nephew out there says to find the shallow puddles!) [:D]

Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO

We'll get there sooner or later!
