[8D]I got a question, I'm planning on building a second level to my layout could I use the Woodland Scenics Riesers and inclines or is it better to build a helix? I'm hoping to get by by using the riseres[;)] help me on this one.
Thanks TrainsRMe

How high are you planning to go? Risers will only take you so far.

Also how much of your layout can you dedicate to climbing to the second level? Climbing 2 feet at a 2% grade will require 100 feet of track Also the length of the trains and the pulling power of your locomotives will determine your maximum grade.

A helix is a way of gaining altitude in the most compact area and is necessary when a more natural transition isn't possible.

By the way, how much would a hundred feet of W.S. risers cost? Have you considered simply buying a sheet of foam insulation and building a long ramp?

Thanks "Big boy" & Muddy creek, I should have thought of the cost of WS risers. We just bought a house so the $$$$$$ is real thin, I think I will go the insulation foam ramp way. Thanks for the help Guys!!
