CBC News
HALIFAX — One person was injured when a VIA passenger train collided with a minivan in Windsor Junction on Tuesday.
The collision happened around 4 p.m. at a marked railway crossing where Fall River and Windsor Junction roads meet.
Firefighters say they're not sure at this point whether the train hit the silver minivan or vice versa.
Much of the damage to the minivan is in the rear section. It ended up in a ditch, taking out one of the poles with flashing red lights. The train did not derail.
A woman inside the van was removed by an emergency crew and taken to hospital.
Officials are at the scene trying to piece together what happened.

I don't know why people can't understand that a red light flashing or otherwise generally means stop. This type of accident is soooo preventable. We had a similar one here two years ago lady tired they figure drunk as well drove into the side of a CN freight train, unfortunatly it was 20 cars behind the locomotives so the poor woman was draged in her car for about ten minutes before the car she was caught under derailed.Unfortunatly she did not survive the accident. One wonders how many of thease accidents are caused because people live to busy and hurried lives and don't have the percieved time and patients to wait for 5 minutes.
