Age, size of the engine, and number of wheels mostly. The H16-44s came out in 1950; they have 4-wheel trucks, and 1600hp motors. The Trainmaster (also known as a H24-66) came out in 1953, has 6-wheel trucks, and 2400hp motors. The Trainmaster was mostly FM's answer to EMD's 6-wheel SD7 that came out about a year before.

OK, someone educate me on FM locomotives. What's the difference between the
TrainMaster and the H16-44. I have the Atlas Master Series H16-44 w/DCC. To me
these two locos look very similar. Thanks, Dave

Oh DO try to get a sound one. It's awesome! My father in law has a sound-equipped CNJ he picked up last Fall at a local train show, about $180. Couldn't pass that up, only $100 more than the non-sound. Add $20 for a DCC decoder and you're talking $80 more for the sound - and you can;t buy a sound decoder and speakers for $80.

I've been toying with getting a Wabash unit. You may have helped push me over the edge on the decision making. Thanks[:D][;)]

I finally went ahead and purchased the HO TrainMaster decorated for CNJ. No sound (couldn't tell the wife that I had spent $200 on an engine) but what a phenomonal unit.

Atlas has really outdone themselves on this one. Nice, bright LED directional lighting, lighted class lights (CNJ model with the distintive CNJ class lights) and just overall superb. Looking to get another in a few months - probably Reading.

Nice job, Atlas. Keep up the great work!!!
