Age, size of the engine, and number of wheels mostly. The H16-44s came out in 1950; they have 4-wheel trucks, and 1600hp motors. The Trainmaster (also known as a H24-66) came out in 1953, has 6-wheel trucks, and 2400hp motors. The Trainmaster was mostly FM's answer to EMD's 6-wheel SD7 that came out about a year before. <br />
