I'll tell my friend to check the plug. It definitely continues without pushing the F0 button. You push it once and it keeps making the sound in a rythym until you hit the F0 again. The rythym doesn't change with the speed of the locomotive either. Thanks for the feedback.

Sounds more like a problem for the service dept. at BLI the steam dynamo once activated will wind up then should shut off, once it reaches it's peak and shold not be repetive.Atleast that is the way it is with my Class a. You may want to also check that the plug is fully seated in the loco mine has came loose a couple of times and even though the loco still operated it had a couple little problems with the whistle and bell.Good Luck it is a great engine Terry.

It will do it every time you press the F0 key to turn the lights on and off. Moving or stopped.
You might want to look into the individual CV's to control each sound's volume (as opposed to the master volume). CV 49 values select which sound, and then CV 52 is the volume for that sound. On all 3 QSI equipped locos running on my layout, I've had to tweak the individual sounds to get the best quality and balance between stuff like the chuff, whistle, bell, and misc sounds.

I guess that sounds logical but why does it keep doing it repetitively when the loco is running around the track. I would think that once it was fully up, the sound would stop. Thanks for the quick reply.

If you adjust the volume right, you will hear that it is a 'whine' sound - it's the turbogenerator turning on and off! Watch the light when you hit F0 - it dims out gradually and you should hear the whine drop off. Hit F0 to turn the light back on and you will see it ramp up to full brightness, accompanied by an increasing whine.
Pretty awesome if you ask me.

BLI N&W Class A problem

A friend of mine has a BLI class A. It makes a very strange noise when you activate function 0 with DCC. The light goes on as it is supposed but there is a sound that almost sounds just like rythmic static that goes off and on. The sound stops if he de-activates function 0. He doesn't know if it is supposed to make that sound and he just doesn't know what it is or if it is defective. I told him that I would ask on the forum because he doesn't own a computer. Thanks.
