I have not had even one problem with Imgur since moviby to it over a year ago.

John-NYBWZoinks! You've taken a wrong turn. It follows that with an explanation that the image I am looking for might have been deleted.
That means traffic is too heavy on the Imgur site. I think the free photo albums get shut down first when this happens.
On days with a massive news story, this happens frequently.
The situation always corrects itself.

Living the dream.
John-NYBW ATLANTIC CENTRAL John-NYBW Now imgur won't let me get to my uploaded images. I'm getting the following: Zoinks! You've taken a wrong turn. It follows that with an explanation that the image I am looking for might have been deleted. I hope this is just a temporary glitch. I'd hate to think I've lost all the photos I've uploaded including some that are not even related to model railroading. UPDATE: I fixed this problem by signing out and signing back in. Not sure why the problem occurred but if it happens to you, try what I did. Surely you don't have photos on there without having them backed up on your own computer? And also having that backed up on a separate hard drive or cloud? Or both? Sheldon Of course I have two copies of these photos. However, I spent a great deal of time uploading these photos so I could share them and it would be a royal pain if I had to do that over again. PS. I was unable to get to my layout room last weekend to look for those RDCs you asked about. I hope to do so this weekend but no promises. Things have a way of coming up that require my immediate attention.

No worries, when you have time, I will be here.
imgur apparently makes their money off the ads. They have a "Go ad free" option which I'm guessing would be a paid subcription. I'd rather just wait out the ads to load. If I was spending lots of time on imgur, it might be worth it to pay to go ad free but I'll put up with the ads in order to save money.
I agree with Sheldon. When photobucket smartened-up, my account was "grandfathered" to a lower yearly fee, mainly, I think, because I had been a member for so long. They've recently been tinkering with a new format, with which I was having difficulties...to a point where I was about to quit, but they finally got their act together this month, just in time for my yearly account renewal.

And Photobucket came to their senses about the price, and it works pretty well.
And every photo I have ever posted on this forum is still here for everyone's enjoyment..... or at least so the threads make sense.....
My daddy taught me, "contrary to what some people think, most of the time you get exactly what you pay for".
Your mileage may vary.
John-NYBW mvlandsw When I went to open an Imgur account they required a mobile phone number to send a code to enter the site. Is this just to open an account or do they do that every time that you logon? I don't have to do that when I logon. I can't remember if I had to do that when I first opened the account.

When 'photo-bucket' went whack-o, I tried 'Flikr' and it did not go well, so I went to 'imgur' on 12/14/2020 from the advice of people on this forum, thanks guys, good choice. I am happy with that change. Yes a phone number was needed and then I received a 'code'. I do not remember having to give that phone number ever again to log in.
imgur uploaded my pictures very good and fast in the past. Then it begain to lockup/freeze as did yours. Then I started to resize my pictuers smaller before I uploaded them and I am back to 'quick and done'.
When you get something for free, it's hard to complain about it. I wanted to assure myself the problem wasn't on my end. Rather than uploading directly from my camera, I've started copying from the camera to disk anything I want to upload. If the upload locks up, since I'm not working directly from the camera I don't have to leave the camera on and run down the battery.
John-NYBWThat's what I've been doing. This morning it was especially stubborn. It took me about four or five tries but eventually it unlocked and I was able to post a couple of pictures to the Show me Something thread.
That pretty well sums up my relationship with Imgur as well.
For a free site, I am very happy with it overall.
Imgur is pretty well known for being wonky at times.
It's been fun. But it isn't much fun anymore. Signing off for now.
The opinions expressed here represent my own and not those of my employer, any other railroad, company, or person.t fun any
SeeYou190 John-NYBW Do you just leave it alone when it locks up? If it does not load in about 20 seconds or so, I just close the Imgur tab on my browser and carry on with something else for a while. The amount of time it takes to clear up is not constant. -Kevin

SeeYou190 That happens to me about once every two weeks or so. I don't do anything about it. The system always starts working again on its own. -Kevin

Do you just leave it alone when it locks up and wait for it to unlock or do you abort the process and try again?
I've been having problems trying to upload images to imgur. The image will start to upload, the green bar starts to move across the type, then sudden it seems to freeze up and that green bar quits moving. At first, it seemed to only happen at peak hours but lately it has been happening at all hours of the day and night.
I'm trying to determine if the problem is on the imgur end or if it is on my end. I'm wondering if I'm not getting a solid enough connection with the USB plug that attaches to my camera.
Have other had this problem with imgur locking up?
