Hello all been while since I have been here,I am looking for the copper pieces that goes over the Athearn motortop? Where the spring goes into the motor,I do not know. What the name of it is and,I am trying to find some for Ho-Scale.Hope you can help Thank You.
That is a part of the motor and not replaceable. How many do you need?I would look for a replacement motor. If you can find a Mabuchi FK-280SA 14200 motor it would work better than the Athearn motor.

This is a diagram of a Jet motor. I don't know if all the assembly clips are the same, but that is what the part is called.
A lot of people have those motors hanging around because they've been replaced with newer motors. If you talk nice, maybe someone will pop a couple in an envelope and mail to you

OK, I thought the OP was talking about the brass strip that goes over the motor, and to each truck, called the connector clip.

By the way Mike, My friend from the UK told Me to Please give You a big Thank You from Him for having those parts that He needed, all those connectors You sent to Me for Him. I finally was able to get a box shipped to Him, with all this stuff in world going on. Seven hundred dollars worth of HO scale parts etc. started on 1 1/2yr. ago and it got there in one piece...Great!

I have also noticed when i place the athearn metal wheels into a six axle truck. the wheels are tight and the gears,They do not roll smooth.What can be causing this to happan?

To start with, if all the correct parts are there, The wheels with the gears will only turn freely by hand in the trucks when the top worm gear is NOT in place.
Second, maybe the wheels are out of gauge.

Anyway, the reason I had so many was the fact that I, since way back when, I hard wired the connections, eliminating the strip.

S'matter with the handrails? While the all-metal handrails aren't as well detailed as the more recent ones made from engineering plastic, they're a heckuva lot sturdier.
If you have the plastic ones and they're deformed, it's not all that difficult to remove them and use them as a pattern to bend new handrails using .015" piano wire.
You can then cut the plastic handrails from between the stanchions, then drill-out the stanchions so that you can thread them onto the new wire handrails. After they're re-installed on the locomotive, use a small square to true-up the stanchions, then use the tip of a #11 X-Acto blade to apply a small amount of ca to both sides of the stanchion's base - it won't adhere to the engineering plastic, but it will fill the void around it, at least creating a tight fit.Next, repeat that procedure on each stanchion where the handrail passes through...again, it won't adhere to the plastic stanchion, but, by touching the ca to both sides, it will be drawn into the joint, and it will adhere to the steel wire.
This creates a handrail that's to-scale, and will stand-up to handling, as the piano wire simply springs back to where it belongs.
I used this method on this Atlas RS-3 (only the side handrails, though)...
...and also on this Atlas RS-1 (all handrails, as I was a little more confident)...

My Athearn engines only have a middle motor. The top clip and bottom clip are different on some since they have the contact "fingers" stamped in the bottom clip which engages the frame.

How did you eliminate that strip #84107 of metal? It holds the spring and brush in the motor.

I don't think he is talking about the 84107 piece.
The piece he's talking about is not shown. He's talking about the connector clip, 45016, shown on the SD40-2 part diagram he posted.

I didn't replace the #84107, I replaced the connector strip, #45016, in the parts diagram of the SD40-2, with 28ga wire, soldering the wire onto the #84107, one to the front truck, and one to the rear truck.
Yes replacing that connector clip #45016 was one of the first things done to the BB locos before it was put in continuous run duty.
I would remove the assembly clip #84017 from the motor before soldering the wires to it so I would not heat up the brush spring.
Sorry guys, I transposed the numbers 84107 for 84017 in one of my above post. Dang eyes. I had cataract surgery in Dec. and Jan. and lazered the left on May 5th afterwards. It's still not correct in the left eye. May be corrected in 10 days now.
