BATMAN
We are putting in some high-end stuff and after seeing this garbage fall apart as I removed it I am glad we are spending the money on the good stuff.

When I did my kitchen in 2017 I replaced garbage with the good stuff. One thing I was not prepared for was that the interior dimensions of the good stuff are smaller than the cheap garbage. Stuff did not fit in the same places it came out of.

Cabinets were about an inch smaller in the interior, and drawers were a couple of inches narrower.

That's the reason. Defying logic.

Yeah, defying logic.

—OR perhaps nursing homes and care facilities simply are stretched so thin that they do not have available personnel to deliver packages and letters to the residents  as they arrive at the facility?

I'm glad you have your opinion out there so the rest of us can benefit from your vast expertise.

Thanks, Ed

Brent--

As we say here on the Island, "Them pups is some cunnin". All of your picts. of them are on their backs- in a food stupor, puppy pile- sleeping, or being held by someone. Have the pups learned that they have legs, and can walk?

York 1--

There was the day I recieved a call from Mother. She was livid, my brother had come over and caught her on the step ladder, cleaning the gutter over her front door....at the time she was 92. He took the ladder, and Mother wanted me to call my older brother and make him bring it back. As I live over 1800 miles away, luck with that. He also called the various stores in town, (pop. 1700) and asked them to not sell Mrs. White a new ladder, she did try, but was told that they did not have what she wanted in stock at the time. Compounding this was the fact Mother was blind, only having her perifial vision. Looking dead ahead, she could only see to the side. She sewed, and took care of the "old people"in her neighborhood, cooking soups, muffins, cakes and pies for them. She was a good cook until the day she died.

Your post brought back some fond memories-----

I really doubt the nusing home is turning away the mail truck because they are worried that Covid is on the box or they don't have enough staff.

There is nothing but deliveries at a nursing home, personal protective equipment, medications for the patients, incontinence products, food, magazines and newspapers.

I think the postman wanted an early day.

Meanwhile, we have some new candidates to invite to the diner.  Cool

Her indoors made two lists of jobs to do around the house.  One for me and the other for herself.   Now the list she made  for her has involved me helping her and the jobs are done.

Now to tackle the jobs I have been given.   Funny how I can only do them by myself.  Tongue Tied

Good morning, everyone.  It's a beautiful morning here for a walk on the trail.  30°F, sunny, no wind.

The trail was blocked in some places by downed trees.  Judging from the numbers of trees, it will be a long time before our little town is able to clear all the damage.  We don't have a large number of city workers, and clearing trees from a park trail is probably not high on the list of things to be done.

SeeYou190
There was a multi-week series of Calvin & Hobbes comic strips where Calvin and Hobbes were building a model airplane. It was very funny.

Calvin and Hobbes!  That is probably my favorite comic strip of all time.  That is the only strip that I bought all the books containing the strips.

If you're like me, I wish my wife would just tell me what to do, and then leave me alone.

The worst projects are ones she starts while I am out of the house.  Not only does she want me to finish things, but I also have to repair all the silly things she did when she started the project.  What would I do without her?  (Don't let her paint!  You will spend days cleaning paint from the ceiling, floor, switch plates, door knobs, windows, and the dog.)

I love TV.  My kids have all gotten rid of cable TV.  This started when they wanted to watch certain programs on the subscriber hosts, like Netflix.  Then they decided that they didn't need to pay for cable, they could just subscribe to the services they wanted.  Guess what?  They now subscribe to so many online services that they are paying more per month than they did with cable.  And they don't get certain programs they liked before.

This will sound silly, but with the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday coming up, I will say I am thankful to Kalmbach for providing this forum.  I live in a sparsely populated area of the country, and this forum is like an old friend that I can have coffee with each day.  Thank you, Kalmbach!  I appreciate what you provide for me -- for free!

Good morning from the Stormy West Coast. We are suppose to be having a big blow with 90K winds this morning but so far nothing.

The restoration company is here and have hermetically sealed off the kitchen. Apparently, the tile has lead in it so extra precaution is to be taken. They also tested for asbestos in the drywall even though the house was built in 1988. Anything before 2010 they test for asbestos. It tested negative.

Jan, I have just been stealing some of the wife's pics to post. She has posted a ton of videos of the pups running around to her closed FB page but I have no idea how to steal those videos and post them here.

Calvin and Hobbes is my all-time favourite cartoon. I had one strip on my cupboard at my old house for years and brought it with me to my new house and stuck it to the cabinet here, so it has been in the kitchens of both houses over decades.

Well, the sky just clear and the wind came with it big time. Better go before the power does.

All the best to all.

Who exactly is the "in crowd", and who exactly is the "rest of us"? I don't recall any recent critical comments being aimed at anyone other than you. I don't recall anyone else recently stating things in such a way that several forum members have been seriously offended. I don't recall anyone else who has caused three threads to be locked because of the way that you dismissed others' points of view and experience.

Back to important issues.  Brent's dogs made me remember something.

I watched a program about dogs and their intelligence.

It showed that dogs are the only animal so tuned into humans that the dog will understand human motions.  If a person points at something, dogs will look at the direction being pointed.  Other animals don't.

So I tried it on Daisy the Dachshund.  She did it!  She is deaf, so I couldn't give any verbal clues, but I just pointed at the corner of the room.  She looked that direction!  Amazing.

Good Evening,

Dave, the stock car turned out great and is behind the mike right now.

I ordered the track bits I need on Sunday and they were shipped yesterday. I ordered from Otter Valley Trains in Tillsonburg. My last purchase was 10 years ago , my TLT U2g. They still had my info.  I won't be buying from Kliens anymore due to the border situation as I can't pick up stuff at my friends in TRF.

Robbie was at the vet for more pre surgery blood tests today. This one was for adreanal gland function.

 Eveing Diners

Flo, give the gang and I a Beer please and Dirk and Robbie a dog treat.

York 1 Dirk does the same thing but backwards! He looks at me, looks at his treats, looks at me and looks at his treats. Wants to go out, looks at me, and looks at the door. Yep, Dogs are smart, they train humans to do what they want to do!

Wife Front. Wife had some kind of Cyst in her right hand, she had it removed today. Called me at work to let me know she is OK but she could not do any dish washing for two days. Only my wife would have a elective surgery done so she did not have to do the dishes! Laugh

Work was sloooooow. Had the first coustomer at 10:00 AM, they bought and spent $422.00 and was out the door at 10:45 AM Had 3 load outs and my delivery driver in the store but that was it. Felt like the Maytag Mattress Store Guy! Smile, Wink & Grin

Sat out with Dirk when I got home and it was sort of cold. It was 40 degrees but I wore layers so I was OK. Dirk eraned a extra dog treat by doing his #2 in our yard.

Later, Ken and Dirk says "Give dog treat daddy, I pee in our yard Woof, Woof!"

Just got back from a late-night run to the Post Office to mail some bills and return a couple of Netflix DVDs.

This stay-at-home for safety makes a run to drop off mail into an exciting event. It was the first time we have been out of the house since last Thursday.

Good morning all. It is our first chilly morning this year. Overnight lows were in the mid 60s. Still supposed to get up into the 80s this afternoon. Hopefully this brings an end to the Hurricane Season.

It is absolutely perfect outside right now, so that is where I am going.

Have a great day.

Good morning.  Just got in from my favorite fall activity -- mowing leaves for the 433rd time.  And the worst part is that the five big Oak trees still have most of their leaves.

Bear, that train crossing the runway is something.  The crossings around here are so rough, I wonder how they keep that runway crossing smooth enough for planes.

Not much going on today -- good day to watch some movies I've recorded over the past months.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good afternoon all from here in the U.K.   A day of dark cloud and little to no sunshine.    We have been clearing out some things that are no longer used.  Young children's cups and plates.  The grandchildren now use 'bigger cups'. Big Smile

Old cutlery etc. etc.  al cleared out.  The kitchen is like new.

I shall 'mess it up'  (kidding)  making leek and potato filo pie with the trimmings.

David, every day you are making food that sounds great!  Where or when did you learn to cook all these great dishes?

I can zap a hot dog in the microwave or I can make a frozen pizza.  That's it.

Good Afternoon,

Wwe are expecting a mini heat wave today as it might hit 40F!

I did enjoy assembling that stock car and pulled out a Red Caboose box car kit. I've done a few of those before and they are nice kits if you take your time. For a winter challenge I have 2 Blueprint heavyweight sleeper kits I bought a few years ago.

John, glad to hear you are having fun with leaves but just think how crappy your yard would look without the trees.

Nothing planned for today.  I think I'll call sis in TRF. She isn't a blood relative but she adopted me as her little brother a long time ago.
