WOW! Yes, it is good to be back! The ole Bat computor was burning the midnight oil trying to circumvent the shield put up by Kalmbach and in the end we pierced the veil. I am greatful to the team at Kalmbach as they are all working from home yet were able to return me to the fold.
The wife and I have been busy in this time of suppoedly self imposed isolation. We have been doing a lot of grocery runs for so many (elderly) that we would rather not see going to the store. Also we know several Doctors and nurses whose children have been evacuated to the Grandparents house while thier parents are doing battle in the ERs. Knowing some very senior Government employees we are hearing some eye rolling stories from the international front.
Shortly after the kid got back from Ottawa he came in and told us that his economics Proffessor had invited him to join a think tank on the current situation. This Proffessor has been advising the federal Government on policy and has been on the National news as well. So most mornings at 0500hrs West coast time 0800hrs Ottawa time, the kid is on a video feed in his bedroom taking part in putting a plan together for the Nation, though I think his young inexperirenced years make him more of a observer at this point in time. He wears a shirt and tie and has nothing but underwear on down below. I hope he doesn't wonder away from the computer and reveal himself by mistake.
The Canadian Government has taken a rather unique approach with the situation and has put the economy in what can be best descibed as a medically induced coma. I like it.
On one of our grocery runs for someone we had to go into the hinterland and on the way home passed a cedar mill in the boonies. The wife wanted planters to grow veggies to help survive the apocalypse so we went in to see if they were open. The sign said take what you need and phone the office and pay by credit card over the phone. Didn't see a soul. I buy there often and will be back as I liked their trusting way of doing biz and really good quality products.
Here are the planters I found time to build when I was locked out of the forum.

I looked at the removed nail when I did it and thought this is going to hurt as I went to yank it off, however it lifted right off having been completely removed. The good Dr. fixed me right up and sent me back into the rain complete with Saran wrap to ward off the rain drops.
Them came 6000LBS of BS for the veggies to grow in.

I don't have a downstairs, this is Florida!
I am tearing out the three small bedrooms and bathrooms.
This is phase 2 of the remodel. Phase 1 was the kitchen, living room, and dining room. That was done a couple of years ago.
Phase 2 is the new master bedroom and guest bedroom.
Phase 3 will be the lanai and landscaping.
Phase 4 will be the train room where the master bedroom is now.

Work Front I have be came a Germophobe now! I ware plastic gloves when I open the door. When I get inside I wipe down the door handles on both sides with alchohol. Wipe down the desk, bathroom faucet's, flush the toilet with my elbow! Had 2 customers that I kept well over 8' from. 1 bought and I have maybe made $118.00 extra I hope.

Yesterday must have been a be mean to your thumb day. I flipped on the lights in the laundry room and one of the 4-foot fluorescent fixtures did not light up. Humm? This is one of the few that I have not converted to LED yet.
Well, no time like the present! So I proceeded to take out the ballast and get the "tombstones" wired up for the line-voltage LED tubes.
THREE hours later I saw the little electronic ballast sitting there and, ever curious, I wondered what was inside this thing and I was curious if there was a blown fuse in it or maybe a burned compomnent inside.
So I proceed to snap the metal cover off and, hello!!, took the PC board out and got one heck of a JOLT! Talk about keep alive capacitors. These things were still hot after being cut off three hours.
Ouch! I then proceeded to touch a screwdriver across some of the solder points and, yep, the sparks were still flying. The caps weren't all that large but they sure packed a wallop!
Lesson learned? Probably not! I still have that kind of curiosity — you know, the kind that killed the cat!

I was going to work on wiring an outdoor outlet this morning. It would involve working with a drill in the attic. After seeing a picture of Brent's hand, I'm going to sit in my chair and watch Perry Mason reruns instead.

Good morning from the West Coast where it is a nice sunny day.
I have three yards of lawn dressing to spread today. I went and got a load late yesterday in the truck as our back yard looks like a WW1 battle field every year from the dogs digging their trenches. Every spring it requires repair. The dogs have a secure run that is 40' x 100' and they get the run of another part of the property when we are home which is 220' x 160' of lawn and that is where the repairs need to be made.
The soil place has it set up so you can drive in, phone the office with your order and they load your truck. You don't even get out of the truck.
The wife and I enjoyed our rum and Pepsis last night as it had been a month or so since we ran out. Went to a little liquor store in the sticks near where we live, walked in and grabbed a bunch of bottles of wine and a bottle of rum, scanned myself out paying by tap and wiped the bottles and my hands down with the wipes my wife had made up. She stole all the alcohol from the train room to make the wipes, no germ will survive.
Golden is a beautiful place for a hike and there is one (more of a stroll) at the spiral tunnels along what use to be the big hill that the Spiral Tunnels replaced. The grade was 4% and the carnage was nasty to say the least. The walk is a few km long and you can still see the wrecks where they met their end over a hundred years ago.
Thanks for the kind words on my thumb injury, the wife paints a layer or three of new skin over where the nail should be every morning and I am good to go. Wonderful stuff that.
Bears cartoon made me think of the old drill teams that worked the RR construction way back when, you know the one where Brent held the drill while Bear swung the sledge!
Now where is my shovel.
