Hey, we are in Kentucky this month... Bourbon only. .

Uh, how about Moonshine?!? The Ontario Liquor Board stores carry a brew by the name of Reunion Moonshine made in Perth, Ontario. Of course, it didn't come from some still in the backwoods, but it sure is smooth and packs a whallop! I have no idea how close it is to the real thing. I haven't had a lot of Bourbon either, but what I have experienced was a tad too sweet for me.

I prefer Canadian rye whiskey, not the supposed high end brands like Crown Royal or Canadian Club, but just the regular stuff like Wisers Special Old or Alberta Premium. I like Scotch too, but only as an occasional treat.

Cheers!!

Dave

I prefer the Canadian Blends to bourbon any day Dave.  Ever since that day in the driveway just a smell of bourbon makes my stomach chirp.

I do remember McMasters quite a little bit when I was young.  Too long ago to remember the reasoning though.

I had to go dig through my DVD collection Brent and find that part of the movie bring out your dead.

I found it.

Good evening all.

Kentucky huh? Ok. Friend of mine is originally from KY.

Looking forward to seeing some sights and learning a bit of the rail history.

Ken - Glad the blood clot scare was just that. Those things can be very dangerous.

Mike - Hillbilly music? Nope... We will listen to The Kentucky Headhunters!

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PFJ0EfWgZ3c

Hopefully I got the video link right... Edit - Nope... Let me retry this.... One more attempt here.

Weather - Cool and snowy tonight, but it's coming from a warm front, so warming tomorrow and Monday.

W*^k - Had some words with the one girl again, after she had the nerve to reprimand me for ringing out a customer. This time, she did it in front of the owner. I defended my doing my j*b, and made it clear that I was less than impressed with the total lack of respect, and unhappy with the fact that she was too busy playing on her phone to ring out said customer if she didn't want me doing it. The owner just started laughing and said "He's right".

So, now he knows what I've been putting up with, and knows that I had defended my actually doing my j*b.

While she was then nicer, the other girl then got grouchy, as I had defended myself "aggressively" and made them both look bad. (They had both been sitting on stools on their phones, and I had to come clear across the counter to care for the customer.)

Sorry, them both goofing off and then complaining that I was actually w*^king made them look bad.

Health - My back is still really tight, so am trying chiropractic care for that. He said it was definitely out, and I have a follow up appointment Monday morning. The adjustment on Friday night helped a little, but also made it more sore in a different area. I'm currently posting from my tablet while laying on an ice pack.

Breathing is still doing really well, with very few issues from that. Strength is slowly returning, and the stamina is as well. The real only issue still is my back being so tight.

Trains - Still doing small projects, need to finish a coil car kit, then have a couple of Accurail covered hoppers and a roadrailer kit to assemble. I then have some cars that I can start weathering.

Hope all are well, and all enjoy the night!

Between my sophomore and junior college years, I was recruited by a friend to go to a sales school and spend the summer selling door-to-door.

After a week of school, I and five friends were assigned to sell the Southwestern Publishing Children's Bible Library books in Lexington, Kentucky  (I have to spell that out -- Ken!).

I had never been to Kentucky, so it was an experience.  I was a terrible door-to-door salesman, so I spent my days walking around the horse farms and Keeneland racetrack.

After weeks of making no money and starving, I rode a Greyhound bus back to my college town, and I got a job on the heavy assembly line of an electrical parts factory -- another experience.

Even though it was a washout money-wise, I loved my time in Lexington.

While I love Kentucky Bourbon, I did try some private moonshine.  Not nice stuff.

The GF is a bourbon afficionado.  She wants to drive through Kentucky along the Bourbon Trail, stopping at little distilleries to sample their wares.

I don't like hard liquor of any kind, so I will be the designated driver.

I'll be happy to enjoy a craft beer or two at dinner.

Oh yea! I like the Kentucky Headhunters as well.  The radio station I frequent is Sirius Outlaw Country, along with others, but I also like hillbilly rock.

But then again, somedays, I'm on the Symphony Hall station.  I like it all, except the punk and head banger stuff.

Last night, I wanted to watch Austin City Limits, on the PBS channel.  You'll never guess who came on first, it was that green haired girl ya'll was talking about earlier, Billy somebody.  That didn't last long, I went right back to the local news.

About a week ago, on one of the outdoor hunting and fishing FB things I belong to, someone posted a picture of her, next to a picture of a big'ole bright green and black musky spinner bait.

I can't tell you the caption on the picture, I'd get thrown out.

Anyway, here ya go Ricky!

Warning, there is a commercial at the beginning.

We used to drive through Kentucky on our way to visit our son at Pope Air Force Base, used to be part og Fort Bragg.

It's a beautiful state, for sure.

Tried moonshine, haven't had much bourbon, my favorite is Crown Royal Black.

But I've had Makers Mark, and it's all good!

Wife and I are unofficial KC fans today, she has family in KC, same mother, different father thing.  It's all family!

I notice the NYC diner is not locked, maybe Tom can't do that any more either.

Mike.

Getting ready for my Superbowl Sunday! I am off Monday as well, I need to be. I have not worked a Superbowl Monday in 20+ years.

.

I have a few cases of PBR in bottles, tons of guacamole and salsa, as well as some queso dip. 100 Publix chicken wings, a Publix deli ring sandwich, and a massive bowl of peanuts.

.

I got the new digital antenna working. Pregame stuff starts at 1:00. I don't like the way Fox does the pregame shows as much as the other network. "Road to the Superbowl" really gets the day going right.

.

The "kids" will all start showing up about 6:00 to join in.

.

Have fun.

Good morning.  A black coffee please.

I checked out the Headhunters....Not bad... Not badThumbs Up

Football Day Today!

I go to 2 gas stations regularly here.  One attendant calls me Boss and the other one calls me Cheif.  So I guess I'll go for the Kansas City Chiefs if that has any logic.  I still have to run out and grab some fun finger food for the game.

It's a beautiful day in Minnesota with the first day of sunshine in two weeks and 42 degrees this morning.

I have to take Judy back to wxxk todaySad  It will be our first day apart in a week.  I will get a model I have been procrastinating and finish it up before the game.

Have a great day everyone.

I'll take bourbon over moonshine.  And Kentuckian Bill Monroe over the Kentucky Headhunters.

Moonshine is just like vodka.  No ageing in oak barrels and the best of either has no taste.

Not all that excited about the Superbowl.  I told my wife we should have caviar and kosher tongue sandwiches, but she vetoed that.  Haven't had either in a very long time.

.

I have only sampled store bought "moonshine" once, it had a bunch of cherries in the jar, and it was awful.

.

I very rarely drink hard stuff. I have had that bottle of Makers for years.

.

I am not enough of a fan of drinking to explore all the different options available.

.

I hate vodka.

Good Afternoon!

A dull Sunday! My BP is playing roller coaster and my head hurts like I have had a few too many last night. Must be the weather, which is not to my liking.

It´s not time for supper yet, but I will be going for

I can´t remember when I had the last sip of anything stronger than a beer or a glass of wine. Petra has some sherry and rum she used for cooking and baking, but that´s all.

I wouldn´t touch that stuff, either - I just liked the pun!

Great clip Henry.  I love it all.  I taught myself the guitar, well, kind of,  Laugh, had a banjo in my hands once, and I was overwhelmed with it all.

I have 3 country stations I tune into, and I spend Friday nights watching 2 hour episodes of the Ken Burns thing.

It´s not available on TV (which we don´t have) - only from a pay per view streaming service. M interest is not that great! Also, kick-off is at 0.30am local time - I hope to be asleep by then.

Hello all,

I am a Kentuckian. I was born here, but spent most of my life in the Chicago suburbs. I was lucky enough to be in a position where I could change what I wanted out of life and moved back here to the bluegrass state in 2012. It is a beautiful state... mostly. Wide variety of economic areas. From very wealthy to very poor. Just like most states I guess.

We live not too far off the tracks of the Paducah and Louisville (P&L). It is an interesting line that I have thought about modeling, but it is limited in many ways. There is a section of track in Cecilia that I drive through everyday that would be great to model. Very neat wye section. here is a link:

https://goo.gl/maps/aSHGU3UV5QF3D1mL8

I saw where Kevin mentioned Tony York's on Main in Glendale. That is not far from me, but I've never ate there. When visiting Glendale, we always eat at the Whisle Stop if they are open and the wait isn't too long.

Zooming in

Never heard it called Lewisville in the Bawlemor part of the world.  I have heard of Dez Moines, Shycargo, St Louis and St Louie.  There is a womans college in Baltimore Notre Dame.  I guess they didn't want their student called Dāmes so it's pronounced Dom here abouts.

Hey Ho!!!!

I am finishimng printing out some stuff for Tomorrows MLK Committeee meeting.

So most of you will be watching the Stupor Bowel, I guess...  I will be to and plan to head over to my son's house to watch it on their new 10' or so screen (actually no where near that but...).  So....  Whjose playing this year?  I gave up being interested when the Bills got knocked out of the running.  Yeah!  I'm a Bills fan.  Don't make a big deal out of it... LOL

I asked my Lady Friend, the retired Gym Teacher, if she was going to watch it when I was out to dinner with her last night.  She looked at me, smiled, and said, "why would I do that?"  My type of lady!

Anyway watching the thing over at my son's house is a family tradition now, and I can then say I watched a Feetball game this year.....  Likely the only one I will see.  I use the idiot halftime show to sit in the bathroom, little boy's room, or as I told my lady friend, the Euphemism.  (She asked me why guys always call the little boy's room and that was my answer....). I don't consider what they do now to be "entertaining".  I did enjoy the National Anthem the year Renee' Fleming sang it, and that started the tradition I guess.

Anyway, enjoy the game, or not, as you like!  Have a good one!
