I am up too late, but I thought I might share a few beautiful pictures of rural Georgia that I took earlier this month.

Good evening and Happy Turkey Day to all those celebrating Thanksgiving today.
It was yet another sunny day today but as the Sun has set we are at 0c. That is considered quite cold for this part of the continent.
Ken, that TV of yours has had a long run and sure doesn't owe you anything. My favourite big TV is getting on and is showing its age, I am looking forward to a new smart TV. I really like being able to mirror videos and pics off the phone which it only takes a second to do.
Speaking of video, I deleted all my You-Tube videos as that new COPPA law is ridiculous and I just don't want anything to do with You-Tube. I was surprised that there had been 7000 views in the time I had the channel, I would never have guessed. There were also 45 subscribers and I have no idea what that meant.
I think Herrinchoker had the best Thanksgiving menu that I have seen. MMMMMMMdoggie that did sound good.
I got all my Christmas lights up yesterday, not quite the display I use to do. When I was young and had the energy it was an all-out war between my best friend and I to have the best display. I was in the papers as one of the houses you should drive by. The power meter would be spinning so fast we had to try and cool it down. Christmas spirit was measured by total wattage in those days.
Last year both my sister and wife bought me high-quality laser projectors so I have two set up as I write this. I was a little skeptical about them but these ones really put on a high-quality show. I think I still prefer old style decorating.
This time of year is tough on #1 son in Ottawa as he loves the season and we always did a ton of stuff related to the season like getting hampers for the less fortunate delivered. Some years our garage was stuffed to the rafters with hamper stuff that would get taken to the school and sorted out and then delivered.
I bought myself a CMX track cleaning car to open on Christmas morning. I often buy myself something and when I open it go WOW THANKS SANTA! Then, who got me this? The whole family all start looking at each other saying, not me. You would think that after all these years they would catch on.
I started lifting a few more weights a couple of weeks ago as I did not feel up to specs. I was surprised that my strength has pretty much doubled in that short period of time. I just try and stay toned, no big muscles on this guy. I know my wife tries to stay attractive for me, so I try and do the same. Just as long as she looks from the neck down she should be happy.
Well, I think I,ll see what's on the tube, I know why I didn't watch much TV in my life until recently, though I did go to a lot of movies to unwind after a long day. Watching the tube seems like such a waste of time, unfortunately, that's all I feel like doing some nights. I would go a long time without sleep sometimes and it never bothered me, not sure how I would do now.
All the best to all.
Brent

Eveing Diners!
Flo, give the gang and I a please and Dirk needs more Turkey! He Lovvvves Turkey.
Very Good Turkey Day! Stuffing was good, trukey was good and the green bean casserole was good. Enjoyed seeing Sharon and Shawn and we had some good conversations.
Dirk was so well behaved we all where impressed with him. I did give him a little truckey but not much! He finally got to explore the living room and dinning room, it had been a mystery to him till today.
I think it is time for a new TV for the family room. One I am using now is a old RCA TV that is, well 35 years old. I am fine with the picture quality but the sound is just about dead. Boy TV's have changed! I don't know if getting old sucks rail spikes or newer technolory sucks rail spikes. More than likely getting old.

Hope all are warm, well fed, and safe.

Happy Thanksgiving from Daytona Beach.
There was a beautiful sunrise this morning.
And now the beach is completely empty. I walked in the surf for an hour and only saw two other people.

Happy Turkey - Day!
My oh my! The countdown till Christmas has begun - only four more weeks and only 5 more till the year is done! What a year! Few pleasant surprises, but lots of unpleasant ones. It is not yet the time for New Year´s resolutions, but I sure hope that next year will be a better one and our move to Denmark will actually happen!
I spent the entire day "assembling" the single unit house into a duplex. Basically a copy and paste job, but I had to do a number of corrections, so I spent way more time on it than I had figured. Well, it´s done now, but I won´t bore you with more pictures. Afterall, this is a model railroading forum and not an architectural one! The drawings are complete to be sent to builders for quotes, once I get the green light from Sylvia. I also have a few properties lined up, which could be worth having a look at. Not this year, but next!
Have a happy holiday with your loved ones and a sumptuous turkey feast!
Happy times!

Have a great Thanksgiving every one. Have fun today.

Thanks, Dave
Yeah, the Pabst ad is sure a period piece.

gmpullmanThank you Mr. Otte and all your cohorts for maintaining a place where we can all rub elbows and share some stories, railroad or otherwise, let off a little steam — with just a hint of coal smoke in the air — and have a good, safe place to chat and reminisce. Thanks to our moderator, Tom Stage (are you the sole survivor ?) and lets not forget the others that have passed through these doors before us. Thank you, everyone. It is a pleasure to know you and to have the time to spend with you.
Hi Ed,
Couldn't have said it better!
Happy Thanksgiving to all our USA friends!!! I hope the storm doesn't do too much harm!
Interesting menu! $4.50 for a proper turkey dinner!! Sounds incredibly cheap. Maybe somebody can convert that in to 2019 dollars.
Also, interesting ad for Pabst Blue Ribbon beer! 'Let's keep everybody drinking all day and then have them pass out drunk at night!!'
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Forum friends here. Yes, the MR forum has its little quirks with sign-in, spell chekker and photo hosting but, overall, this is a good place to hang out.

(side note:) Back in 1974, Thanksgiving dinner was $4.50. Today a bottle of water is almost $4.00. Just a hint of inflation at work. That's if you can even find a diner on an Amtrak train anymore.
Now if any of you would like to partake in Thanksgiving dinner before we round Horseshoe Curve, follow me to the Budd, twin-unit diners located toward the middle of the train.

Flo, give the gang and I a please and Dirk his Buffalo.
Last year we had Thanksgiving diner at Golden Corral due to my wife resent knee replacment. While I missed the leftover it was a blessing in many other ways.
Not this year. We are hosting again for our daugher and her husband. While it is a small turkey at only 14 pounds it should be good with me cooking it. Wife over cooks them and when I try to lift them out of the pan the back bone would pull out.
My wife micowave's the stuffing, while it sounds gross it is quite good. For me the stuffing is the worst part of Thanksgiving! With being a diabetic the stuffing shoots my glucose levels into the 230 range. OK one day that would not kill me. But there will be stuffing in this house for the next 4 days.
Later None Smoking Ken and Dirk say's Bring On The Turkey Woof Woof.
Planned on smoking my turkey today, but on my last cook on the Big Green Egg, a huge piece of charcoal knocked in a chunk of the firebox, that was only cracked before.
Cooked the turkey today 4:30 in the oven and the breast was 180 and the thigh was only 150. Cut it apart and cooked the legs and thighs another 30 min. Wife cooked the mashed potatoes today, didn't know you could do that.
Dodged an invitation from my ex tomorrow, and will be entertaining my wife's sister in law, daughter and friend and my mom.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my Diner friends and Forum friends.

gmpullmanDeer on an airfield. That could pose some real hazards. Bird hits are one thing but..
This is a true story from about a year ago.
I was in Atlanta heading to my hotel. I was driving on Riverdale Boulevard by the airport perimeter fence.
A deer ran across the road in front of me and jumped the fence into the airport. This was the first time I saw a deer in Atlanta.
I pulled over and called 911, it went like this...
Operator: 911 what is your emergency?
Me: A deer just jumped the fence and is inside Hartsfield Jackson airport.
Operator: In the terminal?
Me: No, by the runways.
Operator: Sir, this line is for actual emergencies.
Me: I think this could be an emergency.
Operator: Sir, I am ending this call.
I told my coworkers about it the next day. They said it happens all the time, and the week prior there was a ZEBRA running down Interstate 285.
I looked it up, and sure enough, a zebra had caused a traffic jam in Atlanta.
Crazy.
For real that's a fond memory of my Grandparents
If we liked the movie good enough we'd sit and watch it twice
I remember chitty-chitty-bang-bang twice
We stayed in the theater and watched it twice
Good one Ulrich
I Saw The Sound of Music twice with my Grandmother and Grandfather I do believe we rode in the 66 Cadillac

Deer on an airfield. That could pose some real hazards. Bird hits are one thing but...
A deer ran in front of me on my motorcycle. Her rear leg kicked the front wheel right out from under me. I ate a little pavement that day. My helmet had a huge scrape on it. Glad that wasn't my skull.
SeeYou190I saw this doe right next to the fence that surrounds the Atlanta airport last week. .
My tour of Georgia ends today.
The last town I spent time in before I crossed the line into Florida was Blackshear.
Blackshear has another nicely restored depot that has been turned into the local Chamber of Commerce.
The courthouse in Blackshear is not as dominating as many are, but it has a very stately appearance and it photographed nicely.
Blackshear still has this building which they claim to be the original county jail built in the mid 1800s.
We found this little hole-in-the-wall chicken place in Blackshear and decided to give the local eats a try. I was anticipating some incredible fried chicken.
Well, this one time, a small-town eatery let me down. Everything in Carter’s Fried Chicken was absolutely bland. Nothing was good. It was a pure disappointment.
Outside of Blackshear there is this massive sawmill where trees are brought in by truck and processed into lumber, pallets, and utility poles. Almost all of this product is shipped out by rail, but I could not get any pictures of the rail operations.
Logging in this part of Georgia is 100% sustainable. The tree farms are replanted in the spring the year after they are harvested. Many of these farms are harvested 3-4 times in a lifetime.
These little guys are probably only a year or two old. In fifteen years they will be the trusses for a new house.
My wife took this picture as I crossed the state line.
I am back in Florida!
God Kevin, I only wish I had your time on my hands
