Well here is Walthers' response:

Dear Sir:

The Walthers Car Float - 933-3152 - is a Retired item. When we sell
out of certain Walthers product, we might label them as "Retired"
rather than discontinuing them altogether. We accept backorders for
these retired items to see if there is enough of a demand for the
product. If the demand is sufficient, there is a possibility that the
item will be reproduced. If there is not enough demand, the product
will be discontinued.

You might consider contacting our New Products Department by filling
out our survey at www.walthers.com/exec/page/survey. This survey will
inform Walthers of your interest.

Wouldn't it be great for Walthers to rerun those? Would love to get another tugboat. Looking at the prices on ebay might make me rethink my harbor scene. If I sell my carloats and aprons I can buy that DCC system lol.

Would like Bachmann to rethink their Citiscene buildings. I think the department store and hotel would be great sellers (and to think I passed up buying a bunch of each when the mailorder places were selling them less than $30 a piece to get rid of them!).

Respond? That would be really good. A word from the Gods who think a few kits will keep the masses happy.. (Sarcasm not intended)

I am seeing spreadsheets detailing how many kits to make, what they will cost and how many potential customers will support such a 2nd production run on these kits. I would hate for Walthers to think that it will now cost 150-200 dollars for one of these sets of kits.

Thanks. I forgot about the barge. They are too steep for me, but I copied this page to Walthers. We'll see if they respond.

At last check the Barge price is now 109- and the float past 50- 5 days to go on that. My mozilla would not let me hotlink to that particular action but perhaps someone can link it.

Walthers should not only think about bringing back the float and the barge, but the tugboat also.

Hm. $100- now? Pure demand. I managed to grab one of those floats recently. Had to snipe at 24 seconds to go with a great deal of money to get it from under the 8 or so that was fighting tooth and nail for it.

The Barge is now 100- having 8 bids and listed approx 4 hours ago, the Float listed about the same time is already up to 11.00 It probably will pass 100- by midnight due to folks needing both kits together. With 6 days to go, this auction will be very profitable to the seller.

Retail I think was 55- for barge and 40- for float. 100- total.

Walthers should pay attention to these prices and make a second run of barges. I think they have NO idea the amount of pent up demand for these OOP items.

If I wanted to put my barge and float on the Ebay I can gaurantee you that both will go for at least 100- almost instantly as this set already has for the seller. There is just way too much pent up demand from a large group of people who have tried in the past to get at least one of the set or the other.

The prices will spiral on these items in the next few years. I predict there will be serious money spent as modelers sell barges and floats already assembled because they need to relocate or change the layout scene etc.

Just checked ebay, there's one, on there for 100 dollars right now, it has 6 days left. Search for Walthers float, and check the search title and description box.
