EWE can post on your own 'puter if ewe activate IIS services which is a part of windows but not installed by default.
If you do not know what I just said, you probably do not want to try it.
Generally to run your own server you will need a static IP number from your ISP.
You can get your own URL from many places but you have to pay for them, but just using your IP number will work just fine.
But WTH... we pay about $100.00/yr to host our abbey website on Webmaster.com
There are othner cheaper ones and you can host all you want on there including your own website.

Public Facebook page or not, if you are not on Facebook at all, you won't see the linked image. If you are logged into your Facebook account, you will see the linked image.

Facebook has never required log-ins for anything posted on a public page.
You can't post images to the Forum that are hosted on any site that requires a login. That includes Facebook. Sorry, not our policy, just the way the Internet works.

You can also create your own web-site using one of the many free versions out there (I use Weebly) and just dump all your pictures into your site and link from there. Nobody can see the actual site while you are building it, just never "go live" with it.

xboxtravis7992Facebook compresses images, but if an image is posted on a public page or public group on Facebook its not hard to link it in such as this. Just a matter of going to the root image on the Facebook page.
I can find the root image on Facebook, but it does not end in .jpg or .bmp. Are you using the picture icon if this forum or copy and pasting the image location?

I've been using Flickr for about five years now. No problems but I do maintain the full link-back that they request in their user agreement.
I believe the CDN warning is more geared toward file sharing use.

I usually trim that link out of BB link when I post one of my pics here. Guess I'm a bad boy.
Could they mean linking your entire library, rather than just one picture? After all they do provide BB links, which is far as I know are only for posting links on websites. In the early days before windows, Bulletin Boards were something like yahoo groups.
I'm finally getting around to looking for a replacement for photobucket. It seems that the most popular sites used in posts here, Flickr, Imgur and Imgdb, all have a statement along the lines of "don't use our site to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere" in their terms. I expect it's only a matter of time before they crack down like photobucket did.
Who knows of a site that is both easily usable and free of this exclusion?
