I'm finally getting around to looking for a replacement for photobucket. It seems that the most popular sites used in posts here, Flickr, Imgur and Imgdb, all have a statement along the lines of "don't use our site to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere" in their terms. I expect it's only a matter of time before they crack down like photobucket did.
Who knows of a site that is both easily usable and free of this exclusion?
I have the right to remain silent. By posting here I have given up that right and accept that anything I say can and will be used as evidence to critique me.
I don't see that Flickr says that.
"Flickr makes it possible to post content hosted on Flickr to other web sites. Pages on other web sites that display content hosted on flickr.com must provide a link from each photo or video back to its page on Flickr. This provides a way to get more information about the content and the photographer."
I usually trim that link out of BB link when I post one of my pics here. Guess I'm a bad boy.
Could they mean linking your entire library, rather than just one picture? After all they do provide BB links, which is far as I know are only for posting links on websites. In the early days before windows, Bulletin Boards were something like yahoo groups.

I used railimages (err, apparently now trainboard.com) years ago (just finally getting settled down in life to think about MRR-ing again). Not sure how decent they are anymore.
Though in the intervening time, I've set up my own webservers and stuff. Taking a stab in the dark, this should maybe be visible...

Edit - err, guess it didn't (thanks Ed)

Facebook compresses images, but if an image is posted on a public page or public group on Facebook its not hard to link it in such as this. Just a matter of going to the root image on the Facebook page.
BigDaddyI don't see that Flickr says that.

Look under "things not to do"
"Don't use your account to host web graphics or as a replacement for a content distribution network."
Not as plain language, but I read it as the same message.

I'm seeing 3 blue question marks, and a working link to a Mantua Pacific.

I've been using Flickr for about five years now. No problems but I do maintain the full link-back that they request in their user agreement.
I believe the CDN warning is more geared toward file sharing use.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_delivery_network
CDN is an umbrella term spanning different types of content delivery services: video streaming, software downloads, web and mobile content acceleration, licensed/managed CDN, transparent caching, and services to measure CDN performance, load balancing, multi-CDN switching and analytics and cloud intelligence. CDN vendors may cross over into other industries like security, with DDoS protection and web application firewalls (WAF), and WAN optimization.
I agree with Big Daddy in that I don't believe Flickr has a problem with second party image hosting as long as the link returns to the Flickr site.
Cheers, Ed

I can find the root image on Facebook, but it does not end in .jpg or .bmp. Are you using the picture icon if this forum or copy and pasting the image location?

Yup, I'm seein' that ole Pacific here, too. It woiks; it woiks!
You can also create your own web-site using one of the many free versions out there (I use Weebly) and just dump all your pictures into your site and link from there. Nobody can see the actual site while you are building it, just never "go live" with it.

Another good option, although it probably costs money (which takes away from the important things :) )
You can't post images to the Forum that are hosted on any site that requires a login. That includes Facebook. Sorry, not our policy, just the way the Internet works.

Facebook has never required log-ins for anything posted on a public page.
Public Facebook page or not, if you are not on Facebook at all, you won't see the linked image. If you are logged into your Facebook account, you will see the linked image.

From the "You Will Not" list on Weebly's terms of service page:

Is server right at my right elbow.
EWE can post on your own 'puter if ewe activate IIS services which is a part of windows but not installed by default.
If you do not know what I just said, you probably do not want to try it.
Generally to run your own server you will need a static IP number from your ISP.
You can get your own URL from many places but you have to pay for them, but just using your IP number will work just fine.
But WTH... we pay about $100.00/yr to host our abbey website on Webmaster.com
There are othner cheaper ones and you can host all you want on there including your own website.
Oh Well...
