Spectrum Passenger Couplers
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, April 23, 2002 6:53 PM
HELP!! I just picked up a set of older spectrum heavyweight cars. They are well detailed..but those turning and sagging coupler boxes. Kadee #5's sag low on these cars and are inconsistent from car to car. They sag to low for the washer over the truck trick. Anybody got any remedies for these cars out there?

If you have a Walthers reference book, go to the HO scale coupler conversion list, Bachmann Spectrum, rolling stock.
In part it states, Passenger Cars(non Obs)#27 without reference to production date.

What you can also do is go to the www.kadee.com site, scroll down to Company infor, click on contact infor, click on e-mail, and their response
form pops up.
Send it to the attention of Sam Clarke, coupler conversion specialist and give him the car specifics. They are on Oregon time and should reply 24-48 busness hours.
This is what Sam gets paid for.

Charles - Thanks - I had used #5's on some newer Spectrum Cars and that worked fine. The older cars pre-98 used 27s as you said. That seemed to take care of most of the problems. Those turning coupler pockets are still problematic.
