I used to have XP on both my laptop(s) which I took along with me, and on my destop that I utilized at home. They all worked just great,...then Microsoft decided they need to sell a new system. I forget which one that was, but I think it was another failure of their's. Then along came Win 7 which resembled XP and was not to difficult to get use to. BUT all of a sudden my older desktop would not run on Win7 as the it didn't have enough processor, or whatever. Then I found that my very nice older HP laser printer couldn't communicate with Win7 (driver not existing or something like that). And my older Scanner would not work with Win7.
That laser printer and my scanner were in perfect working order, I just couldn't get them to work with Win7. So I keep one old desktop with XP on it just so I didn't have to go out and buy a new scanner and printer.
Then along comes Win8,...another Microsoft desaster that I believe they had to dump pretty quickly and come out with Win10. Call me sceptical, but I was not going to just dump my Win7 and go for the 'lastest/greatest' from robber-baron Micosoft. Now I understand that Win10 is pretty good, but what GREAT things is it going to do for me that Win7 doesn't??

ATLANTIC CENTRAL Doughless It is a bit odd that one of the biggest marketing factor for laptops is screen size, and computing speed, yet making sites mobile friendly is a big push for the internet shops. Mobile devices are the opposite of speed and size. As if the consumer is broken up into two segments, those who browse at their desks, and those who browse everywhere else. My ebay screen on Chrome has the traditional seller info in the upper right as shown. I think that is exactly how it is. No one carries a laptop around any more except for business travelers setting up power points at meetings......... Laptops have become the desktop for many - like my wfe. She keeps it in the TV room and uses it while watching TV. I only bought a tablet for the following reasons: It has a text message app linked to my flip phone It runs a navagation app in my truck (I would have had to pay $6000 more for a truck with built in navagation and a bunch of other stuff I did not want - I actually prefer the built in navagation in our car) I NEED the web and Email on the job site in my work as a construction manager Otherwise I can do without the tablet, and I am quick to not have the cell phone on me at home when I don't want to be bothered (we still have a land line, its free with the fiber internet and TV). But many younger people see the smart phone and/or tablet as a replacement for the laptop or desktop. I need a phone and the tablet, but I WANT a desktop.....for its speed, big screen, ease of use....... Sheldon

While multi-tasking is seen as a desireable thing, I think there is a proper time and place for almost everything.
My job requires travel, so my employer furnishes us with an Iphone so we can access email primarily, for the times when we are not working on our laptops. We are authorized to use it for limited personal use. It has standard internet capability, and I have called up ebay from time to time when I have a moment. Its generally horrible to try to read something on the phone.
I have a tablet, my wife's old one, and use it to browse in bed while waiting to go to sleep mainly.
Compared to the laptop, browsing on the phone and on the tablet is just so much less rewarding and a general pain that I can't see why anybody would choose to do it that way if they didn't have too.
I eagerly save my internet browsing for the time when I have access to my desk. Not to mention pen and paper and proper seating position.

Don't know what brand of cars you may be dealing with, but actually no, it was only $150 to up date the map in our 2015 FLEX, and we only do those about every other year.
I like the built in navagation, but in my 2015 F250 truck, I would had to buy the Lariat model rather than the XLT. The Lariat comes with leather seats, and a bunch of other options I did not want.
I actually dislike having to have some sort of "mount" for the tablet, because none of them are great, Built in is so much better for that use.

I had "Works Home Essentials '97" on one of my older machines and I still have lots of documents in the .wdb and .wpf format.
Just the other day Windows updated two of my machines with the "Fall Creator's Update" and Works quit working.
They must have sent out a patch later because it came back to life without any intervention on my part.

So I'll be keeping my Windows 7 for as long as the machine holds out. I also have to keep a Windows XP for the same reason for other software. And my machine with Windows 95. I only upgrade when I have to. And by then I need new hardware as well. Case in point, my current laptop is 6 years old. So soon I will buy a new machine and get Windows 10 - oh joy Paul

Paul, I'm the king of keeping hardware a long time, I have made a number of machines last 8-10 years.
But part of that trick is buying way more than you need when you do buy a new one and keeping it as up to date as possible. I always buy the biggest, fastest, latest when I do upgrade.
I never bought the MR DVD, I have complete MR in print back to about 1955 and spotty back into the late 30's. But I do subscribe to the online index as well. It is now built into the print subscription so why not?
I don't know what your other software needs/issues are, but all those operating systems eventually gave me problems.
Here is what I don't do, I don't have a house full of old machines for specific purposes. I have a desktop and a tablet I use for travel/job site. My wife has a lap top. That's it.

You could blame the extra work caused by duplicate development for distracting the programmers from putting the required effort into the website you use if you really want it to be the smartphone to be at fault for your inconvenience.

That may all be very true, but here is what I hate - I don't use a smart phone, I have a flip phone and a Samsung Tablet. The "mobile" versions of most sites "suck", and half of them don't work right on the tablet (I have yet to get the mobile version of this forum to work on my tablet) yet many sites continue to try to put me on their mobile versions even though the full web versions work great.
My chubby fingers can't type on a smart phone and my old eyes can't read them without my glasses (which are only readers for mild Presbypia, I am 60 and otherwise my vision is 20/20), so you can keep your smart phones.
But I seldom use the tablet at home, I would much rather use my desk top......I hate touch screens......and Windows 10 has had way more positives than negatives for me......why lookat a 9" screen when I can look at 24" screen?

I agree, too much stuff on computers is changed for no real reason - but it seems everyone using Windows 10 and some other browser (Microsoft Edge, Chrome) is not this having trouble - your link gave me the full user info on the right side......
Maybe it is time to just accept that upgrades are necessary for the best user experiance? Windows 7? Really? Trust me, that is your real problem right there.
I held on to Windows 8 too long, now glad I have Windows 10.
But what would I know, I just programed some of the first PLC's (program logic controllers - computers that run machines for ther uninformed) back in the 1980's.
Hard to keep up with the tech changes these days, and I only change stuff when necessary, but Windows 7 is a dinosaur....
PS - I looked at that listing a few days ago, whoever wins is welcome to it. First it is all beat up, at least by my standards. I have never delt with that seller, but I have big prejudice just by reading their listing. It may be unfair, but I would be reluctant to buy a "model train" from someone who uses the TCA standards to "grade" models - just me.

I have a friend who has a train shop up over his gun shop. We have in the past discussed digging out a basement under his business location and installing a firing range,....for folks that wanted to bring in their misbehaving computers (and other electronic devices) and using them for targets
For some reason on eBay not all users get the same user profile box on their listings. It might have something to do with if they are a business or just a person. Anyway like I said some items have the box and some do not. But the best thing to do to contact them so they know which item you are referring to is to contact them from your watch page. Click the link for more actions by the item and you will see the contact seller option. When you contact a seller using this it will include the item so the seller will know exactly which item you have a question about.

Dare I even mention any of the "automatic critical updates" — especially those wonderful Windows 10 ones!
Just last week I was in the middle of a project using Photoshop and Premiere Elements and all of a sudden all the text disappeared from my menus!
Windows had rolled out their "Fall Creators Update" and for the next week my PC was functioning like it had brain damage.
Of course, Microsoft claims that nothing they did had any ill effects.

You will be asked to delete settings file. Say yes.

It will only get worse, I'm afraid. In the U.S. the FCC just voted to repeal "Internet Neutrality" and I feel this will ultimately cause suffering for the "end user" — us!

I personally despise software programmers who change tried and true procedures purely because they think they are improving things. I think they are missing the point when a significant number of their users have a hard time figuring the changes out. If something becomes less obvious or gets hidden, then the software writers are accomplishing just the opposite IMHO.
Somebody needs to create a customer service app that measures frustration. Said app would record how many times a user attempted to navigate through the new format, and maybe even how hard the user was pounding on the keys, or how much they were drinking to try to maintain their sanity!!!!. Unfortunately none of the emoticons can really express my feelings!

Yes, since you mentioned it, that TRAINZ seller always seems to have his camera in the next room. I think I bought three items from him and they were OK. Your mileage may vary.
Again, like so many threads here about ebay, buyer beware.
It really shouldn't be very difficult. I have dealt with TRAINZ many times and had very good results.

I didn't know that. I use FireFox, and Windows 7 Proffesional. When I use the wife's computer, with Windows 10, the only difference I see are the ads, and the way the sides of the page fills in.
I see the same thing Ed posted. The only difference is that a picture of the item, will be on left, if there is a picture, sometimes the seller will post something like a kitty, or something, with "No picture available".
