Testing google photos, seems to be working well (and easy to use). Can you all see the photo?

Edit: Still trying to figure out how to work this out.

One more try

Lee,

You have an arrow on the right side of the pic'....but when You click on the arrow, it continues to show the same pic', nothing else. That's how it should be.....I had mine set that way for Private.

All my photos were removed by Photobucket last week. On the weekend I deleted them all from Photobucket (didn't like that site anyway). Enjoying my summer and my trains.

Free photo hosting website?
Posted by Darth Santa Fe on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 7:06 PM

Well, Photobucket decided to permanently lock me out from embedding photos on forums like this one unless I'm willing to pay them $100 annually.  Of course, I don't post enough photos to pay anywhere close to that (in 12 years, I've only used 9% of my upload limit!!), so I think I'll just delete my account and transfer everything to a different website.  They've become a bloated mess anyway.  Who would you all recommend?

This is very convenient. I loaded Flickr into my I-Phone. Now my cell phone photos can easily be loaded into my new Flcikr account.

Below is a photo I took with the phone several months ago of a Union Pacific train on my layout.

If I open Flickr in the I-Phone I can use the I-Phone to take a picture that goes immdieately into my new Flickr account. I took the following picture last night doinng it that way.

Looks like you have it down now!  Yeah the flickr app works pretty well.  And now that your on flickr, you can join groups and follow individual photographers.  Its a photographers site, showing the type of camera and all the camera settings of the picture.  The other thing I like about flickr is that you retain the copyright to your images unless you choose to release it.  I think the reason flickr puts all that linking code (that you removed) is so that people can find you and follow you, giving you traffic to your images.  Here's a little sample of the railroad people / groups I follow if your interested:

There is an easier way: Go to flickr, click to open your image and select the share icon. In the pop up share window, pick the bbc code option. Select the desired size. Copy, then paste the code right in your MR post just like text. Its code, you will not see the image until previewed or posted. Thats it, here it is links and all. Chrysolite Metals Mine and Mill by Eric Miller, on Flickr BTW HO-Velo. In this way you can edit the code right in your MR post, if you want, getting rid of the links. Just save the stuff between and including the img commands. Now its just a dead image, no links.

I tried imgur and imgbb and leaned so far towards the former.  But I'm trying out Flickr here before deciding.  Seems easy enough (I hope).

Testing google photos,

Picassa (owned by google) has been discontinued; it supported links ending in jpg.  I looked through the google help forum and there were a lot of people switching to Imgur when it happened.  I see no mention of jpg (which is the essential file extension to post in this forum)

People have posted sites that work: Trainboard, Imgur, Flikr and one or two more.  You may find one more user friendly, for you, than another.

No one has posted that they got google to work and here is how to do it.

EDIT: Mel has gotten it to work.  I understand his instructions, I followed them exactly and it doesn't work for me. His pic does not end in a picture extension that is usually required.  He understands all things electric and infrared so there is obviously magic involved in his trick.

Your mileage may vary, I'm sticking with Imgur.

No one has posted that they got google to work and here is how to do it.

Google Photo Hosting is working on this Forum.  I have many pictures posted on the forum.

First upload your pictures then create a shareable album, I named my shareable album "Forum".

Next move the photo wanted to the shareable album, select the photo you want to move clicking on it, next go to the upper right corner and click on the three vertical dots to get more options.  From the drop down menu select “Add to Shared Album”.  Select your shared album and select the picture you want to post on the Forum.

Right click on the picture in your shareable album and select "Copy Image Location" then paste that to the Forum "picture insert".

The picture above is from my Google Photo Account.

Hope this helps.

Send me a PM and I will be happy to walk you through the process if you have any problems.

Was there supposed to be a picture in this particular post, or in another previous post?  If it is in this post and is a white elephant in a snowstorm, then I'm seeing it, otherwise..............

Sorry guys, I did some research and found out Google Photo doesn’t permit 3rd party hosting.

I guess the reason some see my picture and some don’t is that if you have a Google Account it works.

I reposted the picture from my Google Blog, let me know if anyone can’t see the picture below.

Once you log into Prime Photos, click on the picture you want to post. It should open in a window and the picture will be full size. Right click on the picture. Inthe menu that opens, click on 'copy image address'

Then paste this address into the 'source' box in the insert image menu on the forum.

I hope my feeble description helps you out.

Can you clarify, please? I uploaded one photo to Amazon Prime Photos.  (I did not put it in an album, if that matters.)  Using Windows 10, I opened the picture to large size. When I right click I get 8 options, including "share picture", "copy Picture" and "copy".  Not "copy image address".

I'm semi-married to Amazon (don;t tell Jeff) with Prime, Echo, etc and might lean in that direction.  But my current leaning is (1) flickr, (2) imgur and (3) imgbb.  I'd like to make a decision that I will ride quite awhile, so I'd like to adequately compare Prime to Flickr.

P.S. - Thanks to all in the patience to sort out this change (for many).  With the many options this thread is quite informative, though a few of us are definitely feeling our way.

Just read an article that many Amazon and eBay images also lost to Photobucket's 'ransom demands' lol
