Happy day-off for most of those who work. For the retirees in the diner, happy day-like-every-other-Monday-except-there-is-no-mail-delivery.

 Evening Dinners

MisterBeasley
I actually gained weight and was too sluggish for exercise. I think it was starving my brain as well, as I felt mentally sluggish, and my wife reported that I was a pretty nasty person to be around.

MR B That sounds like me to a point. Even when I was working out I felt tired all the time, even with getting stronger. I know I am not as sharp as I use to be and feel dull witted a lot. I make simple math mistakes, I was not like that when I was in my 40's and early 50's. I was the one that caught the math errors, not make them. Far as my spelling? Whistling It has alwise stunk. Yea, my wife thinks I am mean sometimes, but that she brings on her self as far as I am concern. Smile, Wink & Grin

Work Front Dave is still on the wagon, we where busy and all the customers where tire kickers! Made for a very long unenjoyable day. Sigh

Trains are running geat, Y6b is cooking! Big Smile

What? no Ulrich in already?

GM,MEN!

Off to the Orthopedic surgeon to decide about the L shoulder surgery. DOn't know as the rihgt shoulder has shown any improvemnet such as it is, so dunno.

ALso off to take MOH's car in for repairs. well, tires, and maybe brakes. At about 25-27k miles already the original tieres are about shot, never do they put very good tires on, so We will put 70K miles tires on, so maybe 3-3.5 years on them. bout $100/tire, but I hve a buy 3 get 1 free coupon so the extras will still make it $400 anyway.

MOH nad I already had a tiff over it.I siad I suggest we drop off your car and go to the Drs. appt, then pick it up when done. MOH got angry tell you later.

Good morning everyone....

Flo, a cup of java and an english muffin please...

School's back in session and dad gets a little R & R from chauffeuring and daddy dos. I have plans to go to the lumber yard and hunt for a new piece of laminate for a new backdrop I've been thinking about.

I'm glad metformin worked for someone Mister Beasley; both of the girls complained of nausea and can't eat. We're taking the youngest back to the doctor this afternoon to see what can be done.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday....

Yes, the tiles.  When I started my layout a decade or so ago, the one thing I had to have was the tiled walls of the subways.  It was the memory from my childhood growing up outside of New York.  So...

This is one of the newer ones, with the striping and street name applied as a decal.  The early ones were hand-painted, with a computer-printed sign before I learned to make decals.  Looking at The Lion's pictures, I now wish I'd made my signs fancier.

Whistling

Hi Gang,

Well, our trip is over, we got home late Sunday evening, day off yesterday to recup/revitalize and back to work this morning.  We had a great time, lots of fun with my Grandson and visiting with my Sons and better halves.

No word from my Wife lately, sure hope she and her Sisters are enjoying themselves in G.B. and France, and that she is not haveing any trouble with her Diabetes.

We drove down to Yellowstone again but went in the north east way this time. That is the only road in there  that I had not been on.  Quite a trip, lots of switchbacks and elevation over 10,000 feet.  Loved it.

Gathered up all the goodies I had coming to my Son's home from Walthers, Factory Direct Trains, Trainworld, and Rusty Stumps. As well as the items that John at Jim's Junction had ordered in for me. Then found some other things there and at Hobby Lobby that just had to come home with me..  That is it for me for purchases for quite a while, spent my wad/allowance/whatever at least till the new year as I have put quite a bit of loot into my truck lately as well.

Sorry to hear of some of the medical set-backs some are having. That's just not fun.  Good luck today Galaxy at the sawbones.  Ulrich, my thoughts are always with you, hang in there good Buddy.

Well, I had better get back to work here and EARN a little pay.

Catch ya' all later.  I do have a lot of reading to do to catch up here.  You guys wrote a lot of pages while I was away.

Just sayin´ hello to everyone!

I have not been feeling well all day long, could hardly keep my eyes open. That old ticker refused to work properly today, but with a shot of nitro spray that was corrected. The downside of this is that I need a day (or sometimes even two) to get back on track.

It´s 8.30pm  here , but I´ll be heading for the hay soon!

We know that routine and compared to you MOH is healthy as a horse, and I am doing OK. We needed 2 days to recoup from the outing on Saturday on the train!

If/when we travel anywhere again, we need to allow for 2 days on/2 days off for doing stuff.

Shoulder Surgery is delayed for now. For 2 reasosn: first the Right shoulder has been giving me grief for nearly 3 months now since my last visit. And so I got a "shot in the arm" on the R. Secondly the L shoulder is doing OK since I get the shots for it. So he wants to delay or skip the L surgery if injections can help it. Now, to get the right side to cooperate.

No new word on the MRRing space with BRs over it.

Wonder how YGW is hanging in there with his not-so-good news {won't use the word "bad" right now}

Dead pig, some eggs & flour {pasta} and scraps of vegetation for dinner...

 Evening Dinners

Flo, Beer please and give Dave a Drinks as well.

The Saga Of Drunk Dave And Nancy Continues. Bang Head Yep, Nancy is trying to find away of keeping Dave's job, I swear either they are lovers or Dave is her love child!

She does not want Dave working a lone so he won't Drinks at work. Hum Nancy, that did not work Saturday so well? So she want's to come to my store on my days off so Dave won't be a lone. At 73 years old I bet that 70 mile round trip she will get tired of that fast! Laugh

I did tell Nancy I think we lost around $1500 to $2000 in sales because he was drunk, that got her attention! One thing Nancy loves more that Dave is her $$$$$$$$. I heard Marv yelling at her to get of the phone in the back ground so she hung up.

What kind of company did I join?

Good Afternoon!

I am late today - Petra had to take me to the ER this morning to get my heart checked. Good news is, trhat it is as fine as it can be under the circumstances, bad news is that this is not really good enough Sad

I really have to get my mind set on other things, and today may have been the first couple of steps in the right direction.

On the  way back from the ER we stopped at our local post office to pick up the delivery of track my Swiss friend had sent. Took a while to get here as it was held up at customs.

The second step is that my former comrade in arms from my political campaign in 2013 has a fully equipped wood working shop and volunteered to build the cabinet and the benchwork for the layout for me. He´ll be coming over to our palce tomorrow or Friday to discuss how I want to have it done - isn´t that great? No way I could ever do that myself, given the limitations I have.

Happiness is....

Have a great day!

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe,  I'll have a bowl of Heritage Flakes Organic Cereal and a pot of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast Coffee to start the day.  Oh yes, use my R&GV RR Mug.

Ulrich, that is great news about the track and your friend who will built the benchwork for you!  Yep, what you need is a hobby, Sir!  I look forward to seeing progress.

Galaxy, hope your shoulder is doing better (both of them actually).

It is already 83°F here in the Finger Lakes Region with a high around 85° later in the afternoon.  Still no sign of any rain....  garden is very stressed, so late afternoon I will haul a few more buckets of water out to help the plants.  Still no word from the plumber. Sigh  Decent plumbers are not plentiful around here and this guy is supposed to be one of the best.  Emergencies always come beofre non-emergencies and he also works for the town over where my son lives, so his business is part time.  Only thing that really needs to get done is the outside faucet...

Guy across the street stopped in last evening to check on how Manét is doing.  He just lost one of his 4 kitties...  He now thinks diabetes could have been one reason the old cat died.  He is using about half the amount of water that he was before the cat died.  Manét came right over to see him and even Blackie stopped to say hello while he was here.  He thinks Manét is much better than he was a few days ago when he stopped by.

I drove to the Tropical Fish Emporium in Auburn yesterday afternoon to buy new gravel, new heaters, and other supplies for the 100 Gallon Aquarium.  The owners are about the same age as I am and the place opened back in the mid 1970's.  Talking with the owner it is likely that he sold some of the Angelfish I used to breed and wholesale out to a guy in Pine City, NY back then.  Small world....  The owner was a Biology Teacher and is the best of the best as a place to buy Tropical Fish.  I spent an hour or so rinsing the 100lbs. of gravel I got for the aquarium and getting that into the tank.  I'll be starting to fill the tank today.  The wife of the owner suggests that with an old tank I fill it with warm water to help the sealant soften a bit.  I don't want a major leak out there.........

Looks like the Fall meet will be a go....  Finally!  Just waiting on one more of the officers to get back to me.

Have a great day!

Good morning!  It's going to be another hot one.  I had a good hockey game last night.  I was really in the game mentally and felt good physically from the start.  We won easily, even after some personnel adjustments were made halfway through because the game was a rout.  This morning, though, I'm very tired.

Tomorrow morning is the next step in my dental implant.  That's not going to be fun at all.

Naughty, naughty Ulrich!  And good for you!!!

Time to batton down the hatches here I guess.  A very strong thunderstorm appears to be heading staight towards Geneva, although the Severe warning does nit include Geneva, the mapp shows some really nasty stuff coming right towards us!  Already sprinkling outside.  I have unplugged the PiP and put the downspout back on (didn't put it back after I mowed last time), and will shut down the computer for about a hour and a half I think...

Catch you all later!

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Please.

Tonight has been a pain in the caboose! Dave has a customer that called 15 minutes before closing, I helped as much as I could. Took for ever it seems to get home tonight. Had to go to the bank for the company and caught about half of the stop lights on the way home.

Day's off, boy I have a lot of running.

 1 Get Sparkie Dog Food

 2 Dump trash

3 Go to bank (if my check gets here.)

4 Cut front and rear yard.

5 Take wife to shop and save to buy food.

6 Get tire installed on one of the cars.

7 Get oil changed in the car I am driving.

Heck, there is more, just to beat to remember. Sigh

Looking at houses from other areas this morning and TRYING to check flood maps, after '05, '06, '11 floods, a 100 yr and a 500 yr supposedly flood, so DON'T KNOW!

houses are starting to look alike to MOH.

The net may be a detriment as the agents tell you to go peruse the net then come to them...used to be agents showed you houses in your range, but with 1700 onthe market in a population area of only 160K...

dunno, don't expect our final offer will be taken...

Good morning everyone....

Flo, scramble hard with a side of bacon and decaf please.

It was an interesting day with my younger brother in Keene, TX yesterday. He has spells where you don't know who you're talking to; him or someone else. I took him to get his scripts, make sure his trailer was alright as he complained about the A/C leaking (condensation), took him grocery shopping and talked to the neighbor to keep a closer eye on him. I'm glad I'm a lot closer that I was so I'm able to help when I can.

I'm thinking about looking at some new phones today, and putting some new sheeting on the patio where it's leaking...2 sheets should fix the problem.

Have a great Thursday folks....

Good Afternoon!

I am late again this morning, but - believe or not - I was busy this morning! I started to make the drawings for the benchwork that friend of mine will be building form me and I got so indulged into that task, that I forgot the world around me. The drawings and the bill of material are ready and the cost calculated. The benchwork as planned will run up to about $ 100 and that´s going to eat up the rest of my birthday money, after having puchased that loco.

All I need for a start are a few lengths of cork roadbed and two pieces of curved track. And maybe a switch motorb but I am undecided which one to get.

Seems as if I am slowly getting back into the business of MRRing!

Galaxy - house hunting can be fun, but also a drag. YOH is right, after looking at a number of houses they all start to look alike. That happened to us as well and the way to get out of that rut was to design  our house by ourselves and have it built to spec by a contractor - not a cheap way though! Keeping my fingers crossed that you will find the right place!

CU later!

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have the #2 special, over easy eggs, bacon, homefries, and a double order of the sour dough toast please.  Oh, I will need a large pot of the usual coffee I get as well...

Dark and gray outside today here in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS.  Currently 69°F outside with a high only in the mid 70's.  No rain in the forcast.  Galaxy may get some down in the Southern Teir though.

Yesterday I got the 100 gal. aquarium about 1/3rd filled.  Seems to be holding water.....  Hopefully I will get almost filled today.  I can then get the filter going and the heaters up and running.  Next week I shall buy a few fish and some large plants to see how they do.  may get some more done on the bridge I am building for the layout as well today.  Got down there to bring up the cleaned and dry comforter for my bed yesterday and went over and started at the project for a few minutes to run what I need to do next through my mind a few times, but that was all.

Just about desserted in here the last couple days.  Hope business picks up soon!

Catch you all later!

Whistling

G'd Morning Crew,

It's a beautiful looking day here, although it got very cool last night. Some points further north had their first frost. But it is supposed to warm up again now for a few weeks.

I did get an E-mail from the wife yesterday and she is having a great time in G.B. and will be leaving there for France tomorrow.  (and she does miss me.)  She didn't want to take her I-phone or laptop so she had to borrow something to send me a text.

I'm just unpacking a couple of 10,000 gal. tank cars from Walthers. They had them on sale for $18.00 and compared to what others are charging for their tanks this was a steal. Great looking cars, different numbers with Cities Service logos, very good weight as well. Metals wheels and it looks like Kaydee couplers.  Got to get them down to the LM&E and see how they run. (after checking wheel gauge and coupler height.  These were some of the items I had sent to my Son's place in Montana, picked them up last week on our short visit there.

Do have to make a bank run today and then just some tiding up around here. The Better half will be home later Tuesday afternoon after flying all day from Paris. So she should be out of it for a day or two with Jet-lag.

RAY, glad you got that aquarium in place. That is a big one.  They are indeed a lot of work. Had one for a few years but did not feel I was getting the enjoyment out of it compared to the work and expence... so I sold it off.

GARRY,  Hope you are having a great celebration of all those important dates with your Family and do have a safe trip.

ULRICH,  I am so glad you haven't given up on modelling.  Looking forward to your build. Just go slow and enjoy the journey, after all that is what it is all about, it's not the destination. I'm not into European rolling stock and power, but that is a fine looking Loco you have purchased.   You know that you need this in your life. It is good for you both mentally and physically, just take it easy. Also take a suggestion from Br. Elias, and notice how much can be done by recycling and not full out purchasing. That in itself can be fun.. HOW CAN I USE THIS.... or WHAT CAN I GET TO SUBSTITUTE FOR THIS ?  Just be laided back in your approach (I know that is hard for you) But, DO IT.

Hope all is well with those Diners who are usually here, but have been missing for a few days due to health reasons.  Hope they get them looked after quickly and efficiently and get back in here in short order.  Prayers to all.

V-8 Vega, hope you are enjoying that new little set of wheeels and that those neighbors don't decide to take the wheels off of it.

Galaxy, the fingers are crossed for you and that house. Hope you hear positivily, soon.

TERRY,  It sounds like you have had a very busy summer, what with all the construction and visits from your Family.    Great Times.......

Well, I had better get some things happening around here.  I'm off today and tomorrow and then work for three.  Eye appointment at the hospital Eye Clinic on Tuesday Morning and then pick up my Wife later that afternoon.

Will check back in later,  maybe there will be others that show up here before that.

I'm not into European rolling stock and power, but that is a fine looking Loco you have purchased.

Johnboy - it´s a cute little boxcab electric. The prototype was built in the late 1950´s and all of the 7 locos made are still in service - after more than 50 years! It´s not a fast one, top speed is "only" 50mph, but a fairly strong puller (tractive effort is a touch over 48,000 lbs.). Remember, this is narrow gauge!

The loco will be with me by Saturday , ready to receive a thorough testing on that loop of track.

The other loco I have is actually quite noisy. The noise did not go away after I cleaned it and carefully greased and lubed it. It´s not the gears making the noise, but the motor! It´s still the old 3-pole armature Bemo used over 10 years ago, so it´s bound to have a gnarling sound when controlled by a PWM controller.

Doesn´t that sound as if I knew what I am talking about Wink?

I addressed the issue in a Swiss narrow gauge forum and I got the appropriate answer from a forum member who lives in my town! Looks like I´ll be adding in new friend to my life!

I like that!

 Afternoon Dinners

 Flo, Beer please

I have been pretty mush worth less today. Been very tire today and my right elbow and back has been hurting a tad. Spent a lot of the day laying in bed playing with Sparkie The Rocket Dog. He all wise ready for some loving, I still find hard to believe he was in a rescue when we found him.

Ulrich You need to be naughty onces in a while. I was thinking about being naughty today and stop by K-10 Model Train and look a some new engines. Smile, Wink & Grin Like I need anymore. Whistling But with feeling yuckie I did not go.

God My Wife Is Paranoid! I bought a 9 pound Pork Butt and we just cooked it in the Turkey Roaster. After cutting it in half the section with the bone has some blood come out. She wanted to Nuke it (this will be my half) and I told her No! So here is where the fight came in.

She told me "In ILL Resturant training class we where told never to put anything with blood coming out of it in the Refrigertor!" Hum,Hmm That is what made me mad, she just makes things up! OK, so we cannot but raw meat in the Refrigertor?

By the way, I did not want to eat the Pork rare, I know that is a no no. I can nuke the pork as I go so it is done. But there is no way to un nuke it.

 Later, Ken

Hey all

Ken - Humm never criticize your wife after all she had the good sense to say yes to you - at least that is the sign my Mom hung in our home over where my Dad sits Laugh. Nice pictures always enjoy the ones you post.

Johnboy - 10000 !!! Oh my that will take a while to check !

Ulrich - Man you have been bad !

Bob - hope your brother does better here is Angel for him.

Garry, Mr. B., Lion Howdy............ !!

Galaxy wrote - Wonder how YGW is hanging in there with his not-so-good news {won't use the word "bad" right now}

Well tomorrow is the DAY - I go into the hospital to see if they can SHOCK my heart back into rhythm. Kind of worried. At least I wasnt until they asked for do not revive paper work !! Geez

On a more positive note I have had the great oppurtunity to purchase a pile of N&W pieces. I just bought a Broadway limitied 2664, Brass Heislar ( spelling ? ), two packages of Athearn N&W hoppers, two packages of broadway limited N&W coal hoppers, two dbl action spray rigs, old timey compressor, brass N&W caboose, J #610 Bachman spectrum.  Bought them all for less than 50 cents on the dollar. Nice haul...Also this week end I drew up my plans for my hobby room to be built seperate from the house. So between doctors, work, home repairs, mowing, holiday guest and just being a hubby and Dad havent had much time for anything else.

SO say a prayer for me tomorrow at 9:15 am eastern time ( thats when they will puut me under ) and hopefully God willing I will see you all on this side of tomorrow.

Howdy ..

We returned home late last night from Michigan, and it's been busy catching up on stuff so far today. ... Trip was very nice with the celebrations etc. ... We spent an afternoon on a boat in Lake St. Claire. .. Spent a day in Frankenmuth, the German tourist town between Flint and Saginaw. .... Weather was great except for the days we drove to and from MI.... On the way to MI, i saw perhaps the largest lighting bolt I have ever seen in Dayton, OH. I guess it was five miles long as it extended from a cloud west of town to a tall building downtown ... Then last evening, we drove through a heavy downpour about 50 miles west of Elizabethtown, KY. We almost ran into a guy driving at about 15 mph in a traffic lane. We were only going about 35 mph ourselves at the time. It was so dark, and we could barely see ahead of our headlights. ..

I'll catch up with your posts later. I hope each of you is doing well.

Happy Model Railroading.
