Weird use of spikes

I'm running low on spikes and am searching for a place to purchase some, when I came across a rather unusual website:

(if anyone knows of a good cheap outlet for HO spikes, please let me know--btw I use them on O scale track)

Fonda, Johnson, etc.

I used some spikes for capos when I was trying to learn banjo, but the players I knew said that they wouldn't because they sometimes fingered the 5th string and the spike would get them.
FJ&G: They used to say to use O gauge spikes for HO because they went right through the roadbed!
