No pressure, of course, but look forward to updates of your progress.

Thanks for the welcome Bear.  I'm actually hoping to use the WPF as a sort of pressure to make sure I have some progress to show each week.

I'm way early in the process but I got some foam/structure work done this weekend.  I put in the tunnel entrances and got the base for the two-tier waterfall set up.

Garry, I also enjoyed your video. It worked fine for me & I hope you will do some more. Not having a layout, I really enjoy this thread & can't begin to tell you how impressive all your efforts are. Keep posting, us lurkers truly admire your contributions.

Terry,

I watched you video and enjoyed it. Nice layout and good scenery.

I have to get one of those little cameras. My Sony Handicam is just too big.

Good work, keep it up. It is always interesting to see someone else's layout.

PJM20

I uploaded some photos that I took coming back to college after Christmas. Here is one of a waterpipe used as a park monument in Staunton, Va. Most likely C&O.

PJM20,

FYI:  Yep.  C&O Poage Type H water column with a Universal spout.

Everyone else, nice offerings this week.  I especially like the steam power pics by RDG Casey.

P.S. Hey, how did my reply to Ray's shots of his auto repair shop end up down here? D.H.

Look at the time stamps bewteen Ray's post and yours. This forum always posts replies at the end so they are in day/time order.

I've got to try one of those animated signs someday, maybe in the window of one of my buildings.

Nice work, everyone.  I love the high-quality scratchbuilding.  I retired at the end of the year, and I'm finally getting out from under the piles of paperwork that entails.  At last, my time is my own.  I've been building Phase 3 of my layout, which is mostly a staging yard but includes scenery.  Here's the first structure which supports a Miller Engineering animated sign.

Throwing some light on the subject, you can see the wooden scaffold I built from balsa wood and coffee stirrers.

I was playing around with a recently finished 18"x30" diorama taking pictures of finished engines. I have been meaning to get around to having a piece of scenery to take pictures of finished projects.

A Lehigh New England freight (mantua frames, scratch shells).

A Reading K-1 on a coal drag (IHC base).

I thought this one turned out the best. A Reading I-8 (Bachmann Spectrum base, scratch shells)

My scratch-built radio repair shop in place on the layout, at twilight:

Imagine how great this scene will look when all the buildings have interiors and lights:

Great work examples again this week.  Impressive imagination on some items and superior skills demonstrated.

I'll include a shot of GP9 and RS2 that got LokSound and speaker conversions recently, and I got them playing together quite well,  though managing the directional headlight workings properly had me puzzled.  I figured out a way to make it work, but could not get it to do exactly what I wanted ala the instructions

And the next victim arrived today, a Lifelike Proto 2000 SD50 that will get a LokSound.  Thanks to some prior threads, I figured out how to get the shell off.  I'm currently evaluating what speaker option will provide the most oomph.  With some weight grinding I'm sure I can put at least dual small (LokSound) ovals, but my leaning is that 4 13x18 sugarcubes would be better.  I understand the fuel tank is on with doublestick tape and fear prying it until something gives, but it has to come off for a good lube and to tinker with the weight.
