Progress is slow on my end this week. A little bit more time spent on the shell for my P-44:

I added the domes, chiseled off some of the molded-on detail and shortened the stack a bit. I actually shortened it too much the first time and had to replace it with one from another shell. Waiting on some details in transit now-- aux dome, headlight, bell/bracket, injector, marker lights, and generator. Also starting to think about replacing that unmistakable IHC smokebox front with a scratch styrene front.

Rule 1: This is my railroad.

Rule 2: I make the rules.

Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!

Bear, thanks for starting things off again this week. A good beginning everyone.

A little something from the BRVRR:

NYC road power awaiting assignment at the Black River yard.

Keep the photos and ideas coming everyone. Together you make WPF the best thread of the week.

Looks like we're off to a great start.

Bear, even though it's from the archives, it's still a cool shot.

Pt714, your steamer is coming along nicely/

Rick, awesome rolling stock projects as always

Garry, I love the urban scene

Allan, nice NYC road power.

I've been working away at the east portals of the Gallitzin and Portage Tunnels. The background trees and tunnel portals are in place. Still so much more to do though but it's the journey, not the destination.

Looking like another great WPF. Great projects underway, too. I wrapped up a couple of projects this week. One was a quick and dirty conversion of a F B-unit shell into a Steam and Power Generator car for passenger trains. Some of my narrowgaueg diesels don't have steam generators, so this allows them into the mix of passenger motive power when needed.

The finished car

A longer term project was building some XML and RBL to improve service for food and beverage traffic on the narrowgauge. They were hacked from Tyco caboose roofs and Athearn LO sides. No prototype, but was sure a bunch of fun building them.

One of the RBL, which have a slightly narrower door as the main spotting feature.

As always, beautiful work shown in this thread.  Grampy, I do love your work!  Just looks right.

I have gotten a bit more scenery done at the Girder Bridge Scene:

Enjoy!

Beautiful work so far, everyone! Marc, I think it's brilliant using magnets to hold the pieces together and keep them square as you build. I'm going to steal that technique when I start to delve into building structures.

Bringing the goods this weekend huh? Well, here's some of mine

First- my first scratch built model following photos, drawing up a blue print, and building it to exact scale. CITY tower on the former PRR Monongahela division-south of Pittsburgh pa. It stood until the late 80s

I still need to build steps.

Second I bring a Wheeling & lake Erie boxcar.

Started as an Accurail undec

I still need to assemble the car. https://fbcdn-photos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/v/t1.0-0/10945554_334351756754269_1380351203256004711_n.jpg?efg=eyJpIjoibCJ9&oh=5d072b740fcd235b5d2a1e23a54ef8b2&oe=556812F1&__gda__=1432780408_2bcd23e0740c58819e7ec2cbcacd6ad7

Great work as usual, this week.  Mike, I really like that NG steam-generator car!

Here's 4-8-4 #1802 bringing the eastbound "Royal Gorge" out of South Yuba Canyon. 2-10-2 #1400 is running light down the westbound track after helper service on Yuba Pass.

Here are a few pictures of the wood chip un-loader that I have been building.  It's not 100% done, still need lights and drums and details on the platform, but a problem with the building that houses the layout is forcing me to tear down and rebuild so, I will have to wait for the next layout to finish it up.  It used to live on a siding in LaGrange Maine when I was a teenager and put chips in trucks to send to the paper mill in Old Town.  It was eventually torn down and moved to the mill itself.

Have been making a bit of progress on the scene I am creating.  Added a wooden guardrail to the side of the highway:

Yes, I know I have a lot of stray weeds I need to clean up on the road....

An overview of the area:

With the exception of the figures (Cows, Bear, and people...  See if you can find them), the crossbucks, and the truck which is a Jordon Kit, everything in the scene is scratch built.  Track is ME code 83 hand laid and detailed.

A shot from the other side.  You are looking at the parking lot and driveway of the dairy which is to your right out of the picture.

Enjoy!

Bear,  Thanks for igniting another WPF.  Guessin' you're still "up against it"?  Glad to see the old GE unit out front.

Hobbez, Nice rendition of the wood chip unloader, but sorry to hear that you,re tearing down, but for what it's worth, rebuilds can be loads of fun.

Pizza parlor that my son built and gifted me, now if I only had the town to put it in, someday....

Thanks to all, regards, Peter

Great work examples again this week.  Impressive imagination on some items and superior skills demonstrated.

I'll include a shot of GP9 and RS2 that got LokSound and speaker conversions recently, and I got them playing together quite well,  though managing the directional headlight workings properly had me puzzled.  I figured out a way to make it work, but could not get it to do exactly what I wanted ala the instructions

And the next victim arrived today, a Lifelike Proto 2000 SD50 that will get a LokSound.  Thanks to some prior threads, I figured out how to get the shell off.  I'm currently evaluating what speaker option will provide the most oomph.  With some weight grinding I'm sure I can put at least dual small (LokSound) ovals, but my leaning is that 4 13x18 sugarcubes would be better.  I understand the fuel tank is on with doublestick tape and fear prying it until something gives, but it has to come off for a good lube and to tinker with the weight.

Thanks, Garry, appreciate the comment. I tried to play your video, but my XP's mojo is just about gone, so it was probably just me.

Ray,

I agree with Garry. Awesome night scene makes that already great model look even better.Yes

I was playing around with a recently finished 18"x30" diorama taking pictures of finished engines. I have been meaning to get around to having a piece of scenery to take pictures of finished projects.

A Lehigh New England freight (mantua frames, scratch shells).

A Reading K-1 on a coal drag (IHC base).

I thought this one turned out the best. A Reading I-8 (Bachmann Spectrum base, scratch shells)
