[?]Got a question, I just baught a new Bachmann Spectrum 44 ton switcher.
How do I remove the body shell. I know someone out there has had experience with this engine. I read, after I bought it some where n the internet that this is not the best engine, however, I have it now so I want to make it run as best as i can. Any help will be greatly apprediated.
Thanks, BOB

there is a single screw in the fuel tank, remove it and the tank shell. then there are 2 screws under there going into the shell, 1 on either side of the tank. take those out and it comes off.. depending on the coupler etc.

I have a couple of the new 44 tonners and several old ones. The new ones run better than the old, but not by a huge margin.

There probably isn't much you can do to make it run better, as there is no room for modification inside that tight little mechanism. That Bachman put in a single motor was an improvement in itself, IMHO. It could stand some more weight. Wearing it in should help though. Dan

The secret to good Bachmann 44/70 tonner running is lubrication. Drop a little lube oil on the gearing to keep things rolling semi-smoothly. It's not a magnificent runner, but they're decent little yard workhorses.
